Someone recommend me Gundam shows with good action. Preferably something that doesn't re-queries me to watch 3 different shows and read novels to fully understand it.

I always enjoyed 08th MS Team and 0083 Stardust Memory the most, and those are probably best if you want good, well-animated action. The original 0079 too, a must watch if you have not seen it already. For a 43 episode long series from the late 70s, it's pretty well-paced and full of atmosphere and emotion.

I found Gundam Wing to be a bit long and monotonous and full of awkward exposition, but since it aired on Toonami in the late 90s, its has a huge fanbase, so they see something in it. It was decent.

Zeta Gundam was pretty long too and I found it difficult to get into because of the pacing, but people love that one too.

Only watch G Gundam if you want something cheesy and over the top. It's a parody that takes itself seriously.

I feel like 0080: War in the Pocket was an underrated one, but it has been years since I last watched it.

I have yet to watch a few of them, like F91 and Double Zeta.

It's all up to individual taste. Everyone has their favorite.

0083 is good for a shorter, action packed series. It also sets the stage for Zeta Gundam and acts as a prequel to it. It's like top gun with mechs. 08th MS Team was good as well, but it seemed lackluster to me due to the main character having such resilient plot armor.

I couldn't make it through all 43 episodes of 0079 (too much QUALITY animation), I ended up watching the compilation movies. It leaves stuff out but you get a pretty good idea of the one year war period.

Zeta is the best series but it refrences a lot of the original series. If I didn't watch the movie trilogy there's a lot of characters who appear in zeta who I wouldn't give a shit about (The white base crewmembers, Char) if I didn't watch the first series. Avoid the movie compilation of zeta, it changes the ending and retcons the third UC series, ZZ. Zeta is the best gundam series, high body count, great moments and takes on a dark tone during the ending arcs.

ZZ is viewed by a lot of people as optional, it starts off as lighthearted and cheery and then amps up into dark and brutal plot points. Only UC series that shows the entire process of a colony drop, from the start all the way through the aftermath. It's also the first gundam to be based around a team format, with multiple people fielding gundams.

TL;DR

If you want something quick watch 0083 or 08th MS Team. 0083 is the better of the two IMO.

If you want to see what made me personally love the series, watch the first trilogy then Zeta.

Don't bow down to the Wing fanboys, their golden cow is shit and FULL of BADLY recycled animation. Let's not even go into the ham fisted politics and force fed meme of pacifism even the anime proves is fucking retarded at every step of the way.

0083 is fucking garbage with awful characters and shoehorned in love triangle involving Nina, Gato, and Kou that is completely forced. It's fucking stupid. Literally the only reason to watch is the animation.
