Made this thread on the beta. But beta is kill. So I'm making it here.

You post a list of anime you liked. If people think they have similar taste to you or they have watched similar things, they'll post things you may like.

 No.5820

>>5816

>HaruChika

Isn't the mc a literal faggot? That would just piss me off. Usagi drop looks cool though. And I'll continue Beck soon.

Serial Experiments Lain

Kyou Kara Ore Wa!!

Initial D

 No.5825

>>5820

>Isn't the mc a literal faggot?

Yes, he is.

The show doesn't revolve around that though.

It's mostly just a detail that is often irrelevant to the actual plot of each episode.

>Usagi drop looks cool though.

Yeah, it's pretty comfy too.

 No.5827

>>5825

The show doesn't revolve around him being a fag, but it does revolve around his faggotry, which very much makes it shit. The first episode to not completely revolve around him was the latest one, episode 6, and it's not like he was spending it on the sidelines.

 No.5830

>>5814

I forgot Berserk.

 No.5831

>>5827

He is one of the main characters, or arguably the main character, so of course a big section of most episodes are somewhat related with him.

What I mean is that so far we haven't had any episodes where the plot was him developing an equation to figure out how many cocks he wants to suck.

It's mostly just him solving things that are completely unrelated to the fact that he's a faggot. He could be easily replaced with Oreki from Hyouka and the anime would probably be pretty much the same.

 No.5857

good taste ITT

 No.5905

>>5816

Ergo Proxy I believe fits with your list

 No.5923

>>5905

Thanks for the rec but I already watched that.

And you're right. It was pretty good.

 No.5966

I haven't seen too much anime but I really, really just enjoyed my sit through of Samurai Flamenco. The slice of life bits were really fantastic, and then it got hilarious when it descended into... well you'd know if you saw it.

I don't know what other genre-busting anime there is out there like that, but it just felt really fresh.

Other things I've enjoyed:

Outlaw Star, Trigun, Champloo, NHK, Bebop, I really like the animation effort that went into the Pain fight of Shippuden, pls no bully

 No.5968

Does manga count?

Can someone PLEASE tell me sth similar to Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou? I almost died after reading that. So good...

 No.5970

The Tatami Galaxy

Bakemonogatari (monogatari series)

Spice and Wolf

FMA:B

FLCL

Natsume Yuujinchou and Spirited Away

Steins;Gate

Yuyushiki and Yuru Yuri

I'm looking for something similar to Tatami Galaxy (manga, anime, ln or vn, anything but drama CD..);

>Artsy

>Romantic sub-plot

>not Bakemonogatari or FLCL (watched and loved)

I can answer that. That author (can't remember her name) is god at what she does. Her other two series are Kabu no Isaki and Aria. The only other SoL I'd recommend would be Living Game. Nothing's just as comfy as YKK and those three. There's other short comfy stuff like Kyou Curry!, Ano Ko No Ie, and Coffee mou Ippai, but I'd also like to find something like what you want.

HIS name is apparently Ashinano Hitoshi. Cool.

Also, I've never read them, but I think Servant X Service and Working!!! are in the same vein of SoL. But I have no idea.

Other comfy series that aren't necessarily SoL would be Hoshikawa Ginza Yonchoume, Koe no Katachi, Natsu no Zenjutsu, Samurai Papa, Sora no Shita Yane no Naka, and Suki mo Yoi

If you liked Yu Yu Hakusho you'll love Hunter x Hunter (It's from the same author). I recommend reading the manga, but if you don't you can just read the first chapter and then watch the 2011 version of the anime. I still recommend reading it though, you might find the style a bit simple at the beginning, but it's really good at telling the story, which might not be as good in either anime. Also, if you liked the dark ambience of FMA 2003 you can also try the 1999 version of Hunter x Hunter.

If you liked Eva you can try Gurren Lagann, which is basically the opposite of Eva.

If you liked Hellsing you might also like Berserk, but the manga. The anime covers only one arc of the story which isn't how the 90% of the rest of Berserk is like. It's mostly just medieval, while the rest of berserk is dark fantasy.

 No.6054

>>6053

Thanks anon but..

> hunterXhunter

Not a big fan, tried watching it back in the 90's, couldn't get into it

> gurren lagann

I actually forgot to add that to my list..

> berserk

I've only watched the golden age movies, haven't checked the 90's tv show yet, and I'm too lazy to get into reading the manga…

>Not a big fan, tried watching it back in the 90's, couldn't get into it

How much did you watch? The first arc is kinda slow, but after that it goes in a different way than other shounen do. Yorkshin arc is really great in the sense that there is a shit ton of planning and tactics instead of regular shounen fights.

Oh, I also forgot to add that you might like Tokyo Ghoul because of Hellsing. I only read the first volume since I didn't like the art and panels much, but it had an interesting setting that kinda reminded me of Hellsing.

 No.6059

>>6055

I remember the show sheding light on Killuwa's family and back story, it wasn't the pacing that bothered me, the characters, world and story just didn't reel me in like yuu yuu hakusho did.

Haven't tried tokyo ghoul yet.

Didn't it have the same director as Kino's journey, texhnolize and Lain? If so I might give it a go after finishing Jing.

I suppose I should update my list for better results, sorry again for inconsistency of themes, these are just the shows I either ended up liking a lot or became memorable for me in some way or another.

I'm not sure if I should add 'Welcome to the N.H.K' to the list..

>Didn't it have the same director as Kino's journey, texhnolize and Lain?

Not sure, didn't really bother with the anime.

I see you liked Onizuka, that's some good shit. If you watched the anime you should read the manga too. Some other funny anime are Gintama and Konosuba. Gintama is long running and the faces and voices are fucking gold, but it sometimes has some serious arcs like in GTO, while Konosuba was just aired this season (it's getting an OVA and a second season) and it was the first anime to make me laugh through every episode.

 No.6063

>>6062

Gintama seems interesting, used to see it aired on tv some years ago, never really watched it, but saw some sceens and thought it to be intresting to watch some day.

First time I've heard of Konosuba, so I guess I'll check that out, thanks anon.
