hey /rec/. i don't know shit about anime but I've seen a couple that I really liked, and I was hoping you could steer me towards your favourite(s). I'm looking for something with a more realistic bent to it - I liked Patlabor because not only did it have huge badass mechs but it was also very rooted in the idea of policing with them, it wasn't just huge robots for the sake of huge robots, for example. Ideally I would be hoping for some kind of war anime, that has a bit more of a focus on the soldiers rather than the chosen one who is the unstoppable hero. I also see plenty of screenshots posted on other boards of vaguely Third-Reich looking badass guys in badass armour hauling around MG42s, I'd be interested in that too. Hit me with your best shot and thanks for helping me out here.
A list of the animes I've watched/enjoyed off the top of my head:
>Space Battleship Yamato (i love sci-fi, and loved that it spent an almost equal amount of time on different crew members)
>the stuff everyone has seen (Akira, Evangelion, Cowboy Beepboop, Ghost in the Shell etc)
>I really liked Rurouni Kenshin when I was 16... but I liked a lot of bad things when I was 16 so don't know if I should rewatch it
>Ninja Scroll
>Porco Rosso
>Patlabor
>Final Fantasy Unlimited (I don't know why)
