Thoughts on the anonymity of flash drives.

Even though totally legal in America. If someone turned a redstick into the cops for all the politically incorrect information on it and they tried to trace it back to you. Could they?

Also our Europoor friends might want to know since they have different free speech laws then us.

No fingerprints.

So your saying its not traceable?

bac65e No.164

>>152

no nothing on the drive is tracable unless you want it to be

the only way would be fingerprints

d6d53e No.166

>>164

This. I was saying that you should not touch it excessively, OP.

What about the images that you put on the flashdrive. There's no metadata tying it back to the computer it was downloaded from? That's not a problem? I'm not super /tech/ so I don't know.

bac65e No.170

>>167

not unless you take an image and resave/edit it, but even then, i dont know of any software (at least on a PC) that would add metadata that mattered (like location info or names). maybe if you were editing some shit on a phone.

doesnt 8chan strip metadata when you upload here anyway? (like cuckchan does)

9e5b49 No.171

>>170

If cuckchan does then I would definitely assume that Hotwheels strips it as well. I didn't know that actually.

8d5e27 No.204

>>171

Regardless, we'll strip it all once we get it collected. This is a question for /tech/

Flash drives have records in the registry, but I don't think it works vice versa. Also, flash drives should be bought as anonymously as possibly. With cash or with temporary debit cards that you load once then throw away when they run out.

Tech newfag here, in order to avoid to get some questions asked, by nice people.

You want to remove exif data, mostly form pictures, so there are some ways.

http://owl.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/ is in my opinion the bes one.

There are also other ways to do, but start-page is your friend.

Flashdrives with serial numbers can be traced. All they would have to do is contact the manufacturer, trace where the drives with that particular serial were sold, then check the financial logs for when that particular drive was sold in the business records.

Any comparable software or scripts available for Linux-distributions?
