Is /rel/ familiar with Meister Eckhart's work? Like? Dislike?

Dislike.

Unfortunately I haven't read any of his works, though I've been planning to, since I've long been interested in Christian mysticism. Do you know of anywhere online I can read his stuff in English?

Eckhart was never sentenced by the Inquisition or anathematized post-mortem by the Church.

Also, platonic philosophy has some useful notions when subordinated to Church teaching, see: Saint Augustine.

Aristotelian philosophy is also good subordinated to Church teachings, as with St. Aquinas and thomism

He pissed off the wrong bishop and was convicted of heresy, but he had the sense to either die or disappear before they could do anything about it.

http://www.ellopos.net/theology/eckhart-works.asp ←- that site has excerpts but you'd need to consult a library to get his writings and sermons in full.

What's notable about him are how similar several of his ideas and talking parts are to zen buddhism, to the extent that zen monk DT Suzuki wrote some interesting analyses about him in the fifties.
