What are the main differences between Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy? I am asking as a former Catholic (Now Asatruar) because I never looked into Orthodoxy.

>Filioque
Catholics say that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and from the Son, while Orthodox hold that it proceeds only from the Father. Filioque is Latin for "from the Son", which is the phrase the Catholics added to the Creed.
>Papal authority
When the WRE fell, the Western Church gained a ton of power in its territory, while the ERE was keeping the power of the Eastern Church in check. Eventually, the Popes came to view themselves as the top bishop with real authority over all others. He eventually demanded that the other patriarchs accept his authority. They refused, which led to mutual excommunication.
>Organization
There is no single head of the Orthodox Church. Rather, there are patriarchs who hold de facto power over others. That's why you have Russian Orthodox, Greek Orthodox, etc.
>Different ways of looking at theology
To paint with an extremely broad brush, Catholics are more rational, seeking to explain God, Orthodox are more mystical, seeking to preserve God's mystery.
>Language
Orthodoxy has been translating sacred texts to the vernacular since the beginning.
That's all I can think of right now, and I'm no expert.
But seriously, man, Asatru?

If the OP is a Scandinavian (I assume he would be as an Asatruar), then why would he choose especially the Anglo-Saxon church? The Anglo-Saxonic culture is as foreign to the Scandinavian people as the Slavic or the Mediterranean culture.
