J. Z. Knight claims that in 1977, an entity named Ramtha began channeling through her. Ramtha, it is claimed, is a 35,000-year old ascended entity from an ancient civilization who has been teaching through Knight about how reality is created and how human beings can create their own personal reality.

Between 1979 and 1988, Knight has been having private sessions with students of Ramtha's teachings, which were called "dialogues". The dialogues were held in 24 cities (including Seattle, Honolulu, New York and Denver), when she decided to found Ramtha's School of Enlightenment, on land which was previously a ranch.

Dear /religion/,

My name is Dan, I'm 20 years old, and I've been going through a big existential crisis. I question my life, i question if there is an afterlife, I've been questioning a lot of things lately.

Most of all i fear death, i really worry about whats going to happen after or how much time i have before the end. Truly I'm scared, and frankly, it's driving me on the edge of insanity.

I question if in this generation scientists will develop a way to become immortal, i question

if the big bang is truly a stupid theory and god created this earth, and again (Repeating myself) been questioning a lot of things.

I believe we gotta be here for some reason, and for some purpose, i refuse to lie down in the morning (yes i stay up all night) and not sleep without answers before becoming deprived of sleep.

I seek some answers or advice… that's why i came here… to ask you ALL on your opinions on what purpose is life about, and would god have something in store for me.

59af81 No.210

>>209

well op, the purpose of life is to set goals and reach them

and to overcome any limits that you had

once you get into heaven, you don't have the limitations of earth

but remember this

If you want to be safe, _be a christian_

literally no other religion sends you to hell for not believing in their god, except islam (which infact thinks of jesus as a god)

you have this life to live, and the next life you choose now

It grows as a memetic and intellectual construct..

And eventually becomes a sentient construct of godlike ponetial…

A Machine god…
That’s sort of the basis of my belief system as a psudo-deist post-humanist materialist tech prist…

There is no magic or mysticism… there is something of a self forfilling prophesy but that the only true kind anyway…

No magic just hard work to make technology as close to magic and as close to devine power as possible…

What religion has ever healed amputated limbs?
What religion can grant its followers the power to move mountains and alter the world or worlds or even create virtual ones…
What religion really works?

the celestial bodies are literally the bodies of the divine beings.

but their minds are different to ours in that they arent tethered to their bodies their minds exist everywhere.

its hard to explain but the sun seems to be the father demiurge and the polestar the mother sophia and the planets the angels/devas.

not to sound retarded ( i most likely will ) but how do you /make/ a religion?

I grew up in a christian household but fell out of it. I since sort of reached my own conclusions about God, morals, etc. and I like it, they still need refining, but I do like it and I do believe it to be "truth" in my own way ( who'd know about truth anyway )

I thought about joining the christian church again, but I can't find many that I can resonate with. the closest is probably catholics but I'm worried I'll press some wrong buttons or something.

my "religion" isn't wacky ( who's to judge ) and it doesn't involve giving money to me or anything, it's basically just a system of morals and judgement based on observation.

But religion's strong point is that it has fellowship, which is why I thought about joining the church, but if i could make my own church it'd be great.

in buddhism they have the concept of the vehicles. they mainly apply to buddhism but i think they work for all religions

that is:

hinayana - small vehicle

mahayana - great vehicle

vajrayana - diamond/thunderbolt vehicle

what you are describing is the hinayana; the personal path to enlightenment. read about all religions as different schools of thought and realise that they are all just as true and just as false as each other.

now 'organised religions' can be categorised into the other 2 vehicles.

the great vehicle is the 'mainstream' religion.

designed to be understood by the majority so everybody has atleast a basic guideline to enlightenment. following this path may take many lifetimes.

the diamand vehicle is the secret, esoteric teaching that every religion has or atleast did have. generally these things were only for initiates but rn you can find a lot on line.

i recommend /fringe/, although it is full of idiots; read the faq and download the mega theres some good wisdom there.

also watching documentaries is great, its good to find out what youre interested in - that one thing youre always searching for. (to know one thing completely is to know everything partially)

for me i say religion but really its more than that but i found its good because if i want to learn about maths i read about sacred geometry if i want to learn about something else i think about how it intersects with what im interested in ygm.

also try to think of it less as a religion like a sturdy unchanging belief; more like a personal folklore thats ever evolving.

>most of the smartest people in the world were religious
>most of the greatest inventors were religious

Doesn't prove religion or any one for that matter. Also given that the majority of humanity is religious, its not surprising that many of the best also happened to be religious them selves.

>many of the founding fathers of our country were religious

Many weren't too, and the more importantly the constitution outright states that no religion shall not be intertwined with the state. The deceleration of independence does say "their creator" and Providence but the deceleration is that the document we actually base our country off and is very vague when it comes to these terms.

>nearly everyone who ever did something meaningful was religious

This one is just plain fucking wrong.

So, this is my first time visit to /religion/, and I imagined to get some advice from some folks here.
I wanted to do the same on halfchan's /pol/, but christians and australians would shitpost it to death.

Now to the matter:
I was never really a deeply religious person in my life, I was interested in it's history and related things, but never really got into the system itself.
The past months I begun to develop a certain feeling towards religion, especially Paganism and Christianity.

Now I am sort of on the edge point of deciding between Christianity and Paganism, so I decide post my few experiences from thinking about this matter:

Paganism:
+is something related to your heritage
+is native to Europe, Egypt, etc
+holidays, the "sabbath on sunday" are mostly based on ancient pagan festivals
+most of the myth and folklore is pagan
+plentora of gods to choose from

Continuing:

Christianity:
+influnced today's Europe
+nice art came out of it, the same thing with paganism
+sometimes teaches nice things
+nice history
+has kind people, but sometimes too kind so they accept everyone into the country
~forbids violence
-TAXES
-Stupid rules (eg: The Ten Commandments)
-Holy Scripture
-divided itself very early
-"BLAHAHA I CANT HEAR YOU HERETIC I CANT HEAR YOU" for around 1000 years and more

Well, I am done writing stuff.

Do you guys have any recommendations (books, movies, websites etc). I got some bunch of .pdfs related to Celtic Paganism.
Also, is there any way to find out my heritage?

dad7d6 No.199

Hey, anon, im on a similar point. There has been developing a spiritual feeling inside me lately, and the curious thing is that i was raised in an atheist enviroment, even thought im baptized because of tradition and such. THe thing is, catholicism is a no-no for me, i cant stand the Church and it rooten hierarchy, and I feel the catholic morality is anti-natural, its negates our animal part while pushing us to procreate. Then i knew about neopaganism, and more specifically, the Celtic Drudism, because im Galician and its the only thing that i feel that would make sense.

But, at the same time, i feel righ now that im oer the edge of scepticism and faith, its a contradictory feeling.

>but today's Christianity is imo just a rotten corpse, waiting to get eaten by vultures

It seems you have already made your choice, Anon. Embrace the ways of your ancestors and raise the battleaxe.

>You say it's like that to prevent atheist circlejerking.
However, doesn't that kind of turn the entire board into religious circlejerking?

No. The rules are poorly-worded, but they explicitly outline a basic logical rule. You cannot prove a negative, so Atheists trying to disprove things is a retarded concept. Yet you find Atheists constantly trying to do it, betraying their own claim to rationality.

Much like the "don't blame an individual member of a religion for centuries-old atrocities", the rule is just there to prune the forum of some of the more frequent degeneration of discussion. The productive role of the atheist is to inquisitively examine the substantiation people have for belief, if they have any genuine interest in either understanding or deconverting individuals.

tl/dr atheism: OP is doing it wrong

– Hinduism (1.4 billion adherents) and Judaism (16 million) will increase, while Buddhists will be about the same size as in 2010 (5.2 million).

– In the coming decades, 106 million people are projected to leave Christianity. (46 million will convert to Christianity, offsetting the losses a little.)
