Not sure if this qualifies for this board, but I lived in a trailer park for a while, which is sort of like being in an apartment complex.

Pros: Dirt cheap, and my park happened to be in a very pretty area
Cons: Usually a long ass distance from town

Overall I recommend it to someone looking for a cheap solution to renting.

This board was created mainly for people living in apartments, but threads like yours are allowed. Basically if it's related to living in a rent-able space then it is allowed. I will be updating the rules shortly to make this more clear.

I'm looking for apartments and I never thought about living in a trailer park. There are quite a few that are inside the city. I have a couple of questions though.

1.)What are the neighbors like? I tend to think of people in trailer parks as pretty trashy.

2.) Was the overall quality of the home similar to an apartment? Was it more run down? I know it will depend on which park I go to, but I'm just wondering if the quality in general is worse than apartments.

Well, I lived in an actual trailer (think RV), not a mobile home. So there was the cost for me of getting a trailer first. I got a used 1980's trailer that was about 25ft long. I found it very cozy.

My neighbors were pretty normal. They were mostly older, middle class type people who had retired. I only ever saw 1 family with a kid. I did have a suspicion that some of my neighbors were doing illegal shit but I never felt in danger. I kept my head down and avoided interacting with people but the few convos I did have were pleasant enough. The park was kept pretty clean. There was a shower facility there that nobody seemed to use so I took showers in there instead of my tiny trailer bathroom.

There was another park nearby that had mobile homes in it. It did look run down and kind of trashy in some sections, but I never felt nervous walking around there, and some of the people had made their yards look as neat and tidy as they could. Oddly I almost never saw the residents there. I think generally people try to avoid getting stuck talking to neighbors.

Hello OP, I hope you don't mind me adding a few things.
(mind you that this is not the same for every place out there just most of them)

When you move into a trailer you are only renting the land, you buy the building that you live in. That alone come with some ups and downs

Pro: The trailer is yours, you can do whatever you want with it from installing solar cells to painting the inside with dicks.

You can also have whatever pets you want.

Con: The trailer is yours, If something breaks that's your problem. Don't know how to do plumbing? it's going to cost you to call someone.

Now like I said, you rent the land, and at dirt cheap prices too more then 50% less then an apartment of the same size, and most of the time you have a yard.
