 No.409

Why would someone set up a shop selling items underground in a dungeon populated by murderous monsters anyways?

 No.410

On that same token, why would someone voluntarily enter a known dangerous dungeon with no prior weapon training whatsoever, no survival skills of any sort (inability to identify the simplest of plants etcetera) and completely naked?

 No.413

fun

 No.417

Entrepreneurs!

Think about it, why else would companies risk traveling into dangerous areas? Dangerous areas are where all the best loot is to be had, and there are bound to be adventurers there to sell you some goods and buy urgently needed supplies, essentially doing most of the legwork for you.

Most shop keepers are pretty dangerous in their own right anyway.

The monsters likely buy from the shops too, why else would they be carrying gold?

Deeper into the dungeon -> richer monsters -> more profit

Or, in the case of DCSS, they're just magical portals made by Gozag to generate gold

This kind of thing makes me feel bad. Reminds me of Ys when you get to transform into a blessed monster and find out that every monster you've fought and killed up until now was sapient.

>>445
why would you feel bad about killing those monsters
regardless of how intelligent they are, they're still stupid as fuck for essentially knowingly walking single file into a human meat grinder that kills them by the thousands
if you were killing neutral monsters that were just hanging out and not violently approaching the protagonist on sight than that'd be a different story.

Play Sil. Those orcs are some serious fuckers.

High risk, high reward, early retirement.

Not a roguelike but fort DF always had me doing 0 embarks (except in tundra) and pretending they got stranded.

Was fun.
