Oh yeah, there's a mod from halfchan to remove various "bloat" items, like dildos and fedoras.
It's a bit out of date and tries to remove several items that don't actually exist anymore, so you'll need to manually edit it if you want to prevent it from bugging you on startup.

Was thinking, this game needs more perception based monsters.
> monster that poses as an NPC but attacks when in range, need to pass a perception check to identify it (think izlom from stalker)

I tried squaring and shrinking the font for cdda. It keeps the screen more symmetrical but clips some characters, making them hard to read.

Any tips on getting lots of information on screen? Is there any way to use a custom square font that doesn't clip when the aspect is changed?

Not always, a friend of mine got introduced to DF with tilesets and played it daily for years and never learned any Ascii. I tried getting him to play Cata and my version of DF and he said "It looks like an Octopus raped a keyboard all over my screen"
