Is anyone else here interested in learning Latin? Let's collect some resources together here.

I'm studying it when I can through Wheelock's, though I only know of a few simple resources. I go through PG's Latin works sometimes for a kek, so here's these;

For a top-rate textbook, there's also always:

I am unsure how many Roman pagans are on this board, but I hope it will grab the attention of some

ATTENTION PAGANS
During a debate with some Christ-tards, I came to a conclusion. Pagans, as much as we all may love our lore, our beliefs and our ways and we want more than anything to revive these, are not very well organized. This is the one thing that Christianity has always had against us. They have a church, we have small and disparate tribal religions. They have a pope, we have decentralized priests. They have most of the world, we have hardly anything anymore.

This was a problem for the Pagans of the Ancient world, not just us. Their religions were often weakly organized and changed on regional differences, which made it easier for the Church to convert one tribe, then the next, then the next…
If we want to prevent this and grow as a strong culture, we must change and adapt. We must become centralized and organized if we want to be a strong opposition to Christianity, Islam and Judaism, all of which have a strongly organized faith. We should have a central leader or a council that controls our goal and direction. A big problem I've noticed with Paganism is that political groups tend to come in and make it about whatever the fuck they want. Just take a gander at Wiccans or Tumblr Heathens and you will know exactly what I am talking about. We need to establish a community that tells those people to fuck off while setting up a guideline on what our motives are, what we strive to accomplish and why we should be heard.

I propose that we use the Hellenistic model of religious organization to accomplish this. This isn't because of any ethnic preference, I myself am a Germanic Pagan, but I realize that the tribes of my people were never well organized. The Hellenic model, of which the Roman Catholic church is heavily based off of, is the best opportunity to unite the Pagan religions together into a singular entity. This does not mean syncretisim or eclectic Paganism like Wiccans graviate towards. Each region would have a their specific pantheon and traditions to cling to, but all would have seats in the council and would obey the supreme leader of our "Church". This doesnt mean the Hellens would have power over the rest of us, just that their model of religious organization will be used for all of us.

Paganism has already grown among a few fringe groups of people, but if we are to continue growing into thePost too long. Click here to view the full text.

>Faggot hilariously oversimplifies Caesars Gallic invasion to 'muh moneyleh J00s' convieniently ignoring the centuries of bitter fighting between Romans and Celts/Gauls for and the political capitol Caesar was attempting to built to solidify his place on the Triumvirate.
>No statues or memorials, Ignoring any to Vercingetorix who was a living symbol of Gallic Resistance.
>Romans led to subdued humans guise. The J00s did it. And the Franks are really Gauls Guise.
>Again ignoring the fact that the Gauls were not uncivilized complete savages (thats more the Germans you Frankish faggot). The Gauls were advanced for the time, they had a good handle on metalurgy and commerce and were developing more and more advanced (if protofeudal) systems of governance. And they seemed to be pushing towards some limited urbanization (in a similar manner to the general civilizations of antiquity at least).
>The only thing really keeping them regarded as barbarians was their lack of any kind of unity above the tribal level, some of their more brutal customs and good old fashioned racism.
TL:DR This guy has no idea what the fuck he is talking about.

My irreverant tone does not detract from the fact that the guy is full of shit. And that he tries to declare that Gauls and Franks are one and the same which is not nearly the case, or that he implies that Gauls were 'free und natural' rather than the protofeudal system they were developing. And that Caesar wasn't just invading Gaul to clear a debt but because of a complex series of reasons going from growing his political power base via military conquests and dealing with a near on ancestral enemy who the Romans had been fighting with bitterly for centuries.

In a good number of cases, yeah. Romans regularly gutted hosts of northmen and Germans who had an absolutely massive advantage in numbers over them. They had superior equiment, doctrine and a good core of low rank officers who could keep their forces organized at a century level. The times they got 'rekt' was generally when they were led by an arrogant idiot or and incompetant, or even worse, both.

If Roma was reborn in it's peak state again in the modern world, what government form do you reckon she'd be? Empire or Republic? Or would she adopt a more contemporary style? Thoughts?

Personally, I believe it would be a very autonomous, federalist Republic. It's the only way I could see Rome maintaining all of Europe under control, by splitting her into provinces to be managed by the locals. Of course Rome would remain the seat of all true power, with authority to overrule any local decisions if it was believed to be harmful to the Republic as a whole. So in other words, it would similar to the US.

in my opinion, it would definitely need to be an imperialistic republic. The problem is that today "empire" and "totalitarian" are bad words, but in the empire it wouldn't entail the stigma it holds in the West today.

If we remember Rome's golden years, notice that the Empire is in fact a very effective system, granted this doesn't always work out, but every system of government has its pitfalls.

It all boils down to this: The roman people want to feel safe, protected, free and proud [of being Romans, a.k.a. nationalism]. This is most effective in a totalitarian government, with an emperor as the trump, without the bureaucracy and corruption of a Republic.

Most likely as a Constitutional Monarchy. It is similar to the State pioneered by Augustus. It'd probably give more powers to the Emperor than most modern western ones but come what may.

Friends, Romans, Patricians, hear me out. From time to time we find ourselves facing a crisis that threatens the whole of Rome. The degenerate inactivity of this board is just such a crisis, and with a weakened Rome, its recovery shall suffer.

Today is a day of voting in the /sen/ate. I ask those of you who are so inclined to vote for SPQR and the future of a strong and united Rome, against the hoards of filthy barbs who are already at our gates; a host of Germanic barbarians, Iberians, death cultists, and psychotic Jews under the guise of being 'Nazarenes' all vie for power to overwhelm the glory and light of Roma.

As men and Romans, I ask for your allegiance with the land and people which birthed us:

Ask Caesar and/or myself and we shall see if you're a fit enough patrician for the senate. Since you're posting on here, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but we'd like to clear some things up. Post in the Roman thread in the /sen/ate and ask if you can become one.

Also keep in mind that since voting ends in… well, right about now, you might not be listed right away or have voting power just yet, but even without voting power, you can still become a party member and we'll see what we can do. Best of luck to you, and may the gods grant you wisdom.

I'm on book IV of Caesar's conquest of Gaul. Romans literally say that they are making slaves of their subjects.
>mfw frenchfags surrender all the time
>mfw germans are warlike and always picking on the frenchfags
>mfw germans always laughing at how short the italians are

but the most impressive thing is their engineering feats. At the very end of Book III the Morini decide to hid in a forest like elfs or some shit. When caeser sends men in they hide in the trees.

So he cuts down the forest, 'in a few days'.

This after he defeated their navy in the ocean, having never sailed in an ocean before, and without any ocean-worthy ships.

From later accounts I get the idea that the constant imperial wars and the advantage that gave to the upper class impoverished the middle class and ultimately lead to rome's distruction. Parallels to modern politics?

Who among the romans tried to push forward stoicism when degeneracy was popular? What worked and what didn't?
