Well shit, might as well start a topic and see how this goes.

How to describe this game…

DiM's an atmospheric adventure/horror game about, principally, bad choices. It's about a company trying to prevent the apocalypse unsuccessfully. It's about a dead man blackmailing another dead man to go recover the other's corpse from an abandoned military facility which straddles the line between the Pacific and the Atlantic.

It's about sin, and redemption, and all the ugliness and brilliance of humanity.

It's about aliens from another dimension who are forever suffering at the hands of a cruel god - looking for a way to escape.

It's about the 'soul' of a man trapped in a machine built to relentlessly and methodically tear the truth from the acerbic madness he's lived with most his life - and the man on the other side of that machine who's forced to be the vessel through which that occurs - and the men operating the machine operating the man who's operating the memories of the other man - and the men who oversee all the others.

But most of all it's about a simple question: 'What is the truth?'

You'll have to dig through corpses, suffer through paranoia, and live with an unconscionable machine which wasn't programmed for ethics as it was programmed for efficiency - but at the end of it all lies the answer to that question. Or one answer to it. One of 12 answers, specifically, and an ultimate answer - the actual truth.

It'll be a brisk journey - some 4 to 7 hours - and it comes in 4 parts. The first, Module One (First Contact) will have its vertical slice demo completed within a month. I look forward to hearing what y'all think about it.

In the meanwhile, I have an incomplete version of the vertical slice already up on the internet. Feel free to check it out (avoid the Tea Room - it's got a freeze in it at the moment)

In the meanwhile, enjoy some of the art from the game, post critiques/comments, and feel free to express confusion/frustration.

This is awesome, the atmosphere is incredible! It really makes you feel the way probably intended. If you add a good custom songtrack as good as the mapping and the graphics it would become even better. I haven't found the incomplete version, can you send me a link,i would love to play it!

Here you are, Falco.

I should be pushing a content patch this week though so if you can wait I would recommend that. The update will mainly target the introduction and one other scene.

That looks fucking sweet. Are you a one man team?

Yep. IX is doing parts of the soundtrack but everything you see here is mine.

Are you using panomaps because these maps look awesome! I am not good with editing so i don't know how to do good panomaps. In a project i am working on (i don't want to reveal it yet) the maps look terrible even when i try panomaps! What editor do you use?

I use GDS' Ultimate Parallax, yes.

I use VX Ace and Krita - that's about it.
Oh and the "Mapshot / Screenshot" script - that's a pretty handy one too.

Hi, Firgof! I didn't even realize there was a /rpgm/ board.

Are you still working on this?
