I'm a britfag and have just gone into college. I met an old friend from my primary school and he's been trying to help get me into social environments. After a week I build up enough courage to try and ask this girl if she has a Facebook or anything so I can talk to her (I wrote it on a piece of paper) in which she replies 'sorry I don't have Facebook'. From here as I go to ask if she has Skype or even Snapchat she pulls out her phone and starts replying to a message from Facebook messenger. That was probably one of the most hurtful things i've had happen in a while. Working up to try and communicate with someone else and have them shut me down and lie to me.

if someone says they don't have a facebook follow up on that shit. i don't have one because seeing other people doing things with their lives makes me feel like shit, and whenever that comes up in conversation people jump all over it and act like there's no way i could possibly be a human being without a goddamn facebook. anyone that qualifies as even a fringe normie 100% has a facebook.

I see. I am debating deleting my social media. Only thing stopping me is I really only have friends who live in America who I talk to on there. One day I hope to delete it but I doubt that will happen. Good job on you for not needing it Anon.

She's simply not interested in you, OP. You shouldn't have bothered to ask her for Skype or Snapchat after - if she wanted you to have them, she would have suggested them on her own; now she thinks you're desperate, and possibly creepy.

You're not a bad guy or anything, and I'm going to assume you're about 18 due to your first sentence. Rather than trying to talk to chicks on social media, you'd be much better off asking them to talk in physical environments (as in: "Hey, are you going to XYZ? I think I might, we should hang out at it.").

Yeah I see that. Worth a shot I guess and yeah you're right there luckily she didn't see the second bit of the note because she probably would have just lied again. Thank you for the compliment and talking to people face to face is quite hard for me i'm trying though. Nothing more I can do.
