I just think that if there's going to be a board about Satanism, it should be about Satanism as a whole (and yes I even mean LaVey in addition to those other groups listed above, though I'm not particularly fond of him and his teachings are indeed pretty entry-level).

I know you might wanna insist that JoS is the "one true Satanism" or something but to do that and attempt to marginalize all other sects and branches is to promote herd conformity in much the same way Abrahamic religions do.

People can discuss whatever they want on the board, and discussion may tend toward JoS, but those links at the top of the page that point exclusively to JoS pages, claiming that they're "all you need" as if they somehow sum up all of Satanism seem like a problem. Perhaps it would be better to have links pointing to the websites of multiple varieties of Satanism, rather than just one as if it's the only kind practiced?

I think most Satanists can agree that individualism and free thought are important focal points. To whore up one variety of Satanism as if it's the only kind while not giving people an opportunity to explore other kinds seems antithetical to these ideals.

It did present some good ideas to build on, but I highly doubt there'd be no modern Satanism without it, in this era of being open to new ideas and questioning authority. Moreover, the principles LaVey advocated would most likely still be present in Satanism. Obviously the idea of going against and/or reversing many of the bible's views on morality would be a thing, since Satan is viewed as a figure who tries to get people to transgress the laws of "God." And the idea of Satan supporting self-deification certainly has basis outside of LaVey – he invited Adam and Eve to become as gods, and as Lucifer, he endeavors to become a god himself.

tl;dr LaVey did advocate some good ideas that are important in Satanism, but he was probably unnecessary for most other branches of Satanism to exist as they are today.

I don't think LaVey's teachings are entirely without value, though I would say he doesn't take theidea of self-deification far enough. The "gods" he encourages people to be are rather mundane

Did you read the whole post? I'm saying that his core ideas are things that are very naturally drawn from the character of Satan. Tempting Man (in Genesis 3) to become as gods is a very important characteristic of Satan's, as well as tempting people away from traditional morality in general. LaVey really wasn't pulling ideas out of his ass or anything. These are things anyone looking to portray Satan as a positive figure could easily come up with. Even John Milton (someone who lived hundreds of years before LaVey!) portrayed Satan as claiming that the angels should be gods and not mere servants.

It is true that Satanism wouldn't have been much of a thing that early on without LaVey "getting the ball rolling," but it seems quite natural that other branches of Satanism with similar ideas would have formed and caught on on their own, in the age of the internet.

At the end of the day, saying Satanism wouldn't exist without LaVey doesn't give due credit to the principle within Man that he was getting at. The urge to become the master of your own world and raise yourself above the constructs of morality etc. that others have created is a very essential force, and one that can easily be seen in the character of Satan/Lucifer/the Serpent in the bible. No one man in the 60's created this principle.

You do the same bullshit "enemy" religions do when you claim your Satanism is the only right one and people aren't Satanists if they don't follow it. It's anti-individualistic.

You have two honest options:

a. Make it clear that this is just a JoS board in the title so most Satanists know not to bother with it
b. If you want it to be simply a "Satanism" board, stop advertising JoS as if it's the only kind

Anyway, I'd recommend actually studying other branches of Satanism rather than just taking Maxine's word for it. Her websites seem very intentionally designed to slowly sink you into her reality tunnel.

Nazism is a relatively new term. The ancients didn't have words for such mundane things we do today. IMO, all ancient civilizations were kept pure and within their their own. Preserving their race and culture, perfecting it each and every way; see high priests of the ancient religions. This is the way it was intended by Satan. That in itself is a very National Socialist kind of thing. Hitler kept Germany German.

As I stated above, it isn't recent. Primordial Tradition. Perfecting the serpentine energies.

We do a lot more than we are given credit for. If we weren't fighting for Satan, here on earth, the world would be uglier than it is now. Don't get me wrong, it will get worse as time goes on and a collapse happens, although as that happens we will be the ones saving humanity from completely becoming extinct or enslaved.

Satan's knowledge is what is most important. Nobody is being forced to censor their posts, besides anything illegal. People are free to post what they like on here.

So what's the idea behind this board? Like the purpose.. all I know about satanism is that its about evil and murdering children doing blood sacrifices and what not. I keep hearing hollywood does this shit and it seems pretty legit with all the subliminal messages
