1. Stupidity—The top of the list for Satanic Sins. The Cardinal Sin of Satanism. It’s too bad that stupidity isn’t painful. Ignorance is one thing, but our society thrives increasingly on stupidity. It depends on people going along with whatever they are told. The media promotes a cultivated stupidity as a posture that is not only acceptable but laudable. Satanists must learn to see through the tricks and cannot afford to be stupid.

2. Pretentiousness—Empty posturing can be most irritating and isn’t applying the cardinal rules of Lesser Magic. On equal footing with stupidity for what keeps the money in circulation these days. Everyone’s made to feel like a big shot, whether they can come up with the goods or not.

3. Solipsism—Can be very dangerous for Satanists. Projecting your reactions, responses and sensibilities onto someone who is probably far less attuned than you are. It is the mistake of expecting people to give you the same consideration, courtesy and respect that you naturally give them. They won’t. Instead, Satanists must strive to apply the dictum of “Do unto others as they do unto you.” It’s work for most of us and requires constant vigilance lest you slip into a comfortable illusion of everyone being like you. As has been said, certain utopias would be ideal in a nation of philosophers, but unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately, from a Machiavellian standpoint) we are far from that point.

4. Self-deceit—It’s in the “Nine Satanic Statements” but deserves to be repeated here. Another cardinal sin. We must not pay homage to any of the sacred cows presented to us, including the roles we are expected to play ourselves. The only time self-deceit should be entered into is when it’s fun, and with awareness. But then, it’s not self-deceit!

5. Herd Conformity—That’s obvious from a Satanic stance. It’s all right to conform to a person’s wishes, if it ultimately benefits you. But only fools follow along with the herd, letting an impersonal entity dictate to you. The key is to choose a master wisely instead of being enslaved by the whims of the many.

6. Lack of Perspective—Again, this one can lead to a lot of pain for a Satanist. You must never lose sight of who and what you are, and what a threat you can be, by your very existence. We are making history right now, every day. Always keep the wider historical and social picture in mind. That is an important key to both Lesser and Greater Magic. See the patterns Post too long. It makes about as much sense as anything else.

I'd suggest looking at what your own beliefs and values are before committing to any one mindset.

http://selectsmart.com/RELIGION/

I wouldn't get too hung up on the whole religion thing anyway. It's more important to have fun and enjoy your life while you can than worry about what happens after death.

I followed you from the random thread...should I be a satanist now?

You either are or you aren't, only you can make that choice

The Psychological Power of Satan

Justice Antonin Scalia and Keyser Soze agree: the greatest trick the devil could ever pull is convincing the world he didn’t exist. Fortunately for them, the devil does not seem to be effectively executing this plan. Some 70 percent of Americans, according to a 2007 Gallup Poll, believe in his existence. This personification of evil has implications beyond the supernatural, influencing how we think about what it means for people to be “pure evil.” And as we prepare to playfully celebrate the wicked and depraved on Halloween night, it’s worth pausing to reflect on some of the psychological and behavioral consequences of these beliefs.

Evil has been defined as taking pleasure in the intentional inflicting of harm on innocent others, and ever since World War II social psychologists have been fascinated by the topic. Many of the formative thinkers in the field — Kurt Lewin, Stanley Milgram , Solomon Asch — were inspired by their experiences with, and observations of, what appeared to most people at the time to be the indisputable incarnation of pure evil. But what many saw as a clear demonstration of unredeemable and deep-seated malice, these researchers interpreted as more, in the words of Hannah Arendt, banal. From Milgram’s famous studies of obedience to Zimbardo’s prison study, psychologists have argued for the roots of evil actions in quite ordinary psychological causes. This grounding of evil in ordinary, as opposed to extraordinary, phenomena have led some to describe the notion of “pure evil” as a myth. A misguided understanding of human nature deriving both from specific socio-cultural traditions as well as a general tendency to understand others’ behavior as a product solely of their essence, their soul, as opposed to a more complicated combination of environmental and individual forces.

The issue of whether “pure evil” exists, however, is separate from what happens to our judgments and our behavior when we believe in its existence. It is this question to which several researchers have recently begun to turn. How can we measure people’s belief in pure evil (BPE) and what consequences does such a belief have on our responses to wrong-doers?

According to this research, one of the central features of BPE is evil’s perceived immutability. Evil people are born evil – they cannot change. Two judgments follow from this perspective: 1) evil people canPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

Do you remember the good old days?

When heavy metal caused satan worship?

When Doom caused school shootings?

When satanists were going around kidnapping people in broad daylight and drinking their blood?

Take a trip back to the golden age of satanic panic.

How does one interact with the dark lord? For me, I believe that Satan is all around us, existent within and without the interplay of nature and consciousness. Thus, I evoke through simply thinking; I visualize and enter that chamber of serenity. When I'm enraged, I pace back and forth and evoke deities in no specific order and importance. It is then that I engage with them, I rail and unleash that which is burdensome.

What are some ways you interact?

When I was a teen I tried to rituallistically sell my soul to Satan. My views have changed much over the years, and looking back it's hard not to cringe.

But one thing has remained consistent, he has always blessed me with his favor. To show my appreciation (which I feel should happen more often) I often thank the Dragon. I sometimes meditate upon what he has taught me.

I want a rosary to help with meditation.

Satan is not the dark lord. He is the father creator. You must let go of all you have been taught to believe about Satan. He is a real and loving being. Having an open mind and no image of him works and then just feel his energy. If you feel it could mean you are capable of interacting and much more.

>you must let go
Aye, you must.

>He is not the dark lord

Sure, Satan is. The dark lord is anything I desire, anything I mold him as. Satan exists in all things; we are one with the universe. The dark lord is therefore a concept shared by the union of consciousness and being.

>taught to believe about Satan

>having an open mind
Satanism exists beyond any singular religious collection of artifacts and ideas.

>could feel it

Aye.

I share your sentiments. Two years ago or so, I was came across a medallion, which now rests upon my neck. I love to meditate by flowing water but I've got some young-ones now. My alternative, primary mode of meditation has been the combination of music with tea.

Greetings, fellow Satanists. I have been a practicing pantheistic Satanist for twenty years. I am recently getting back into the grove of ceremony and theory.

As such, I have been spreading threads in other Satanic boards, attempting to create a shared link between all of them. Further, I have created a lounge open for Satanists of all kinds. The room is an area for conversation, debate, and theory. As a fellow spiritualist, I welcome all newfags/oldfags and cyber travelers to take a part of this lounge and to help shape a respectful temporary autonomous zone within cyberspace.

Here is a link to the lounge:

Here is a link to a ceremony/dedication/prayer board:
