Oh, hey. We're actually having old posts pruned now.

Just go to the library and check out books on nuclear, electrical, etc physics. Avoid the trap that is astrophysics. I've studied that for years and while it impresses your friends and girls occasionally, it's worthless.

Look at Bill Nye versus Neil Degrasse Tyson. Bill Nye actually studies the hard shit, Neil the "stoner science". There's no money in the study of dark matter or whatever. I mean, you could probably get invited to some elite conferences, get funding for a project, but that funding goes directly to the project and you could get in a lot of trouble for even pocketing a small percentage. The States are not kind to scientists at all despite our efforts to advance their caveman asses.

As well, those conferences do next to nothing in terms of pay. Might get a free lunch though.

I've been a physicist for years and only now understanding the importance of engineering. It's definitely a good starting point as once you understand physics engineering becomes much MUCH easier… but be prepared to live with your parents for a long ass fucking time no matter how much you study. I've literally propelled forward transit systems and named stars because of my hypotheses, and am I even middle-class? Hell no.

I mean if you're okay with being a poorfag hey, take the easy road. I would if I had that choice but unfortunately all of my family is either dead or poorfags too, so I can't really just live with someone and continue to sound smart as my contribution to the world.

If you want a job go into electrical engineering, you can branch off into other careers. If you just want to fill your 7 new bookshelves with 2000 new books you just bought, anything really, electrical, particle, thermodynamics. But it would be better to just focus into one instead of being the jack off all trades.

Your post reeks of not actually having a clue, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you actually have any degree in physics.

How can you justify rejecting astrophysics as something that won't land you a decent job? Every aspect of astrophysics is on the rise in recent times, what with dark matter actually being a few decades within our reach and other interesting incentives such as the absolutely massive fundings towards drones being sent to Europa, Fermilab's Holometer being under construction which is an enormous project, and with so many astrophysical themes being on people's lips. The remake of the TV-series "Cosmos" only clearly (and I stress clearly, you're blind if you refuse to see this) showcases how much astrophysics is in focus right now, and you try to waddle in here saying you a) have vast experience in the field, and b) can not manage to find a properly paying job? Come now, since ancient days physicists and mathematicians have been in high demand and low supply. The only way I see you being able to defend what you're saying is to link us to some of your work, which I understand if you're unwilling to do, but do know that if you refuse then your arguments are too weak and uninspired to have any effect.

>Dark matter will be within our reach in a few decades.

>Dark matter.

>That theoretical YouTube poop of physics that we cannot observe or measure but IT'S THERE MAN! YOU JUST GOTTA' BELIEVE IN THE JEE'BUS MATTER!

>Show us your theses while I just quote fucking Wikipedia.

I quoted Wiki to answer a question that wasn't even scientific in its nature, but a great misunderstanding of something very, very fundamental. Meanwhile you accuse me of bad source referral but provide absolutely none yourself when speaking of dark matter. I could provide you with some Wikipedia links of the Holometer and drones, but I'll spare you the triggering.

this sounds like massive bait. engineering is ok but i would never rank it above physics. i'd want to be the guy that finds new ways to utilize josephson junctions, not the guy that just keeps pushing the same technology but with incremental steps of improvements.

You do realize the words "dark matter" are only there to give a name to the unknown force keeping galaxies together, right? Just like dark energy is only a name given to the unknown force pulling the universe apart.

>we cannot observe or measure

except that we postulate its existence exactly because we can measure it's gravitational pull, from either rotation curves of galaxies or gravitational lensing
