A Simple usage of CatChan as a board watcher.

1. Go to catalog of your favorite board. For example, https://8ch.net/meta/catalog.html
2. Check [Auto update]
3. type 0:00 into text field on the right of [<-Ago] button, and click the button.
4. Check [Time:]

All threads hide now, and they will appear when they gets new replies.
"Time filter" hides all threads which don't have newer replies than the time, and "<-Ago" button sets the time string. So procedure above means "hide all threads before now." If you want to view threads which have replies in recent 24 hours, type "24:00" and click the [<-Ago] button to set, ant check [Time:]. You can edit the time string manually.

Optionally.

5. Set "sound notifier" if you want. >>156
6. Set interval of auto updater.
7. Set "Mark:" if you want to mark new replies and jump scroll to them when you open the threads.

9. Add your favorite boards into "Boards group configuration" and choose it, or simply add them to "Bookmark list:"
you can add boards or threads into both of them.
For example, "/meta/" means /meta/, and "/meta/35602" means >>>/meta/35602

Now I released watcher function. If you want to get a simple auto-watcher, there are nothing you have to do, because it's a default setting. If you had configured preference and it seems not to work, reload your settings >>190.

If you want to check all replies from the time, I'll describe how to do it here. The way is quite similar to >>157.

1. Go to catalog of your favorite board. For example, https://8ch.net/meta/catalog.html
2. type 0:00 into text field on the right of [<-Ago] button, and click the button.
3. Check [Watch:]
4. Reload.
You'll also get number of replies to you/for all since the time in title bar.

I strongly recommend you to use 'auto load' and 'auto save' function. It saves/loads your watcher status which shows which thread have been read to which reply automatically. You can also use desktop/favicon/sound notifiers >>188.

Now I fixed so many inconsistencies, it becomes easy to use.
If you used CatChan before, you might need to reset settings by clicking "load_default" in settings. I recommend you to use "recommend setting" >>190

A. Simple auto watcher
Nothing you have to do. When you click a thread, the thread is added to watch list automatically and watched.

B. Simple entire board watcher
1. Go to catalog of your favorite board. For example, https://8ch.net/meta/catalog.html
2. type 0:00 into text field on the right of [<-Ago] button. A textarea on its left is filled automatically.
If "0:00" is filled already, you can click [<-Ago] instead of re-type.
3. Check [Watch:]
You'll also get number of replies to you/for all since the time in title bar.

If you check [Watch(creation time):], the script will watch threads which are created later than the time.
If you check [Watch:], the script will watch threads which have newer posts than the time, this includes [Watch(creation time):].

Settings:
1. Add a vacant board group, like WATCHER.
2. Load "recommend for desktop/note" to set "auto update","auto save" and "auto load".
3. save this settings.

To use:
1. Click 'Bookmark to current catalog'.
2. Click 'Refresh' to update immediately if you need.
