I know of treasure maty's,

https://github.com/philipl/pifs marks the spot.

Ye can Pirate Everything that has ever existed and will ever exist and has never existed in this universe.

The only downside be ye have ta have a pretty powerful rig, maby even quantum rig.

This be rather interesting. The potentials for this are numerous, and I'll be interested if it becomes an actual thing…

Shit, someone be actually doing this? I remember some people talking about something like this on /tech/ or 4chan's /g/ before the exodus.

If I'm not mistaken the idea was that all you'd have to do be tell someone what digit to start at and how long and bam, ye give them the file.

I got really interested into this and be thinkin' about another way of doin' it, and if it worked makin' it a project. It would limit the amount of calculation of pi needed.

The way I devised be impossible.

Basically ye get a get n amount of set data, maybe a kilobyte, then ye get an address to a new location to receive another kilobyte.

The size of the new location be based off the size of the total possible space needed to point to be Size.

So the size of a single place be (n+Size), the total amount of possible states that (n+Size) can be be 2^(n+Size)

So we get (n+Size)*2^(n+Size) = Size

Which doesn't exist when n,Size are positive

Curious to see any other methods

Oh shit.

I can't remember if I'm the original propagator of the idea, if I read about it somewhere from somewhere else, or whatever, but somehow it happened to come into me head, and I remember shittin' the idea out on to the marketer infested halfchan /g/ board way, way back as a joke/pipe theory. About two years before the exodus.

Now seein' this it's like a mindfuck. A faint memory neatly filed away in the back of me mind marked for the trash pulled out and held before me by someone else.

Well shit, I honestly can't believe nobody be talkin' about this

Sure its inefficient as fuck now but if I has one of those companies storin' data "in da cloud" I would be pourin' me billions of doubloons into this instead of some bullshit hipster office decorator like they all do

Interesting.

I didn't see it on /tech/ so I started a thread there for anyone interested. >>>/tech/211143

Guys stop.

Guys this be a joke, guys.

I mean, read the actual Github page. "lol write down the address of the data XDDDDDDdDDD"

If this were actually implemented, the pointers to the positions in pi where yer file just happened to come out perfectly (assumin' that's actually true and pi contains one of everything) would be to such large indexes that they'd actually be exponents larger than the data itself.

Didn't ye ever learn yer maths?

Ya think any of us bother' with our math learnin' in skool m80?

>Didn't ye ever learn yer maths?

Nope, that's why I'm piratin' games :P

But seriously, I think this be a case of cognitive dissonance where because everybody thinks it could work then "it works"
