I recently acquired Quake 3 from one of yer fine MEGA links- the share thread, if I do remember properly. To me knowledge, it's all there- all the files necessary to run the game- but it won't! Every time I do, no matter what confounded method I use, be it WinXP compatibility mode or movin' the pak.0 file about, uninstalling/reinstallin' or what have you, it simply doesn't work. It's been a week, and I'm at a loss for any solutions, and apparently, so be Google.

I'm at the end of me wits, which admittedly were a mite short to begin with. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Are ye tryin' to play quake as it be sold back in the day? Why don't ye use a source port instead? I reccomend ioquake, since it's what I used on me linux machine. Happy fragging.

It appears that, for whatever reason, me computer doesn't believe Quake 3 be installed- I tried yer sourceport, and it, as of yet has not worked.

Maybe it's because ye installed it on the desktop?

Maybe what ye downloaded be just shit. I have an old Quake 3 install on a stick that I carry around with me, so far (like 10 years) it worked on every pc flawlessly.

So, I finally got it working! What's unorthodox is, the way how.

I tried yer method, which, unfortunately, did not work- oddly enough, it said that SDL.dll be missing!

I say, because the thing's right there. So I get the bright idea to take that file from me ioquake file and drop it into me QIIIArena file. I do so, try to run ioquake, and I am greeted with a different error message; basically the same thing, but that libcurl-4.dll be missing. So I do the same thin' to it, draggin' it into the QIIIArena file, and, lo and behold, it's working. How does this work? I dunno. But it does.
