Originally I be plannin' on makin' a grand speech about piracy but I'll skip all that and get to the point of this thread (it's nothin' bad or anything, just want some input):

I have been thinkin' of expandin' this board into one that be for piracy in general and not just vidya and I wanted to get everyone's ideas or feedback on such an idea. If people are not in support of it, I am content to allow this board to be a vidya piracy board and just keep things as they are. If people really want this board to be more open to piracy in general (so comic book piracy, movie, music and so on (granted that it doesn't violate the global rules - so no cp), I can allow that as well.

As it stands now, we do allow non-vidya content but we try and keep them to one thread. If mere modification of that rule be needed then by all means have a say in this thread.

In short, I'm lookin' for feedback and input, reasons for or against such a decision.

I really do value such input since I dislike the idea of sailin' into uncharted waters if the crew be unhappy. So have yer say here.

Might be a good idea to expand the crew by sailin' to other waters, not just Vidya.

Although if we be dealin' with the stuff the crown watches most, that be dem movies and music swag, that might start drawin' the wrong type of attention… de ones with de big guns.

But I think' we be havin' bigger britches so if we're savvy enough we'll have loot and wenches for days!

I have no issue with huntin' more variety of treasure. It'll probably stay vidya centred anyway since a lot of other boards have their own system for searchin' (i.e. see all the boards for sharin' books).

This be me primary concern and the only thin' that has stopped me in the past. The fact that other boards don't suffer too much attention due to their activities (the share threads on /mu/ always amazed me with how open they were) be the only thin' that keeps me from backin' off of the idea. It should be interestin' to see how things go. I hope TPP gets stopped or this place will be very interestin' later on.

Now the question remains, what do I do with me other board,

I don't know. I'm happy with >>>/piracy/ as a general back-up board, but without the charm of pirate-themed filters and, to be quite honest, with more shitpostin' ("don't ye know piracy be bad/plundering/worse than murder" and all those other bait topics). In the end it would also serve as a way to satisfy people who take issue with the pirate-theme, IDs, or who think moderation here be somehow too strict (I'm pretty laid-back). Realistically, due to the bland name and lack of knowledge with the average actual denizen of 8chan as opposed to shills or what have you, >>>/piracy/ may serves as an effective honeypot or buffer zone for people who just want to disrupt shit and nothin' more (hence the measures to more or less encourage such). If over time people want a change, that can occur but I'm more or less convinced of changin' this board into a general piracy board be the way. I think vidya will always have a a strong emphasis on here so that be not an issue. Even then, there be a lot of cross-referencin' that goes on with piracy.

That said, I feel bad causin' any kind of fuss for a board I don't own. It doesn't seem right.

So I'm goin' to open up this board to general piracy, that is, other topics outside of vidya. Vidya will always have a place here and this board will primarily be for vidya pirating. However, I will not take any action to limit piracy of stuff outside of vidya. The same rules that apply to the vidya threads will apply to threads about comic book,music, book, movie, or any other kind of piracy. In other words, more freedom.

If there be a considerable outcry for this change I can always change it back.

I will change the standin' rules to reflect this as well. Hopefully this all works well. In regards to Infinity Next, I'll re-implement such changes over there be they aren't carried over.

As for the other board, >>>/piracy/ , that will act as a meta-board for this one. I'm not a hard-ass about moderation so don't be surprised if that one be filled with shitposting. I will make a point to look at it though.

I've pretty much resigned myself to focusing on this board as opposed to trying to work on the other one. When next gets here it'll get here I guess. I just hope there be plenty of forewarnin' and announcements when it comes. me one main complaint and some other board owners have as well, be how poorly much of what be goin' on be communicated to everyone.

From what I've read (and I've been followin' pretty closely) since the 2ch engineers started assistin' Josh, they're makin' more headway, and the test run of the site (the one that exposed user IPs that ye be probably seein' all over the place, which be 2ch guys' fault) are apparently goin' pretty well.

With that, Josh said another migration will happen. He will keep people updated when things are ready, but I think he's realizin' what a detrimental effect buildin' everybody up, then lettin' them down over and over again be having, so he's just gonna STFU until shit (hopefully) works once and for all. Now that it's not just him handlin' EVERYTHING I am very slightly more optimistic, yet very cautiously.
