NEW PLAYERS READ THIS FIRST:
Welcome to SECRET RULE! I am your host, the Head Moderator In Charge (HMIC). On this board, there is only one rule that posts must follow, but only the mods know what that rule is. Your job is to discover the rule through observation and experimentation. Posts that break the rule will result in a short ban. If you correctly guess what the secret rule is, YOU WILL BECOME A GOD MOD! However, if you guess incorrectly, you will receive a much longer ban. Ban lengths vary depending on the number of players. A short ban will typically be 3 minutes and a long ban 20 minutes. When the secret rule has been discovered, the round will end, all bans will be lifted, old threads will be locked, and there will be NO RULES until the next game begins, announced in this thread. Previous rules and winners will also be announced in this thread, so check here to see the status of the game.
THINGS TO REMEMBER:
1. Be very explicit when guessing the rule. Any discussion of what you think the rule might be could be counted as a guess and result in a long ban if you're wrong, but may not be counted as a win if you're right. You may need to break the very rule you're guessing in order to be explicit, which is fine. Instead of posting "I think it might be this", instead try to think of clever ways to test your hypothesis without letting others know what you're doing, so they don't steal your guess before you can make it.
2. Learn from other people's bans. Science is a collaborative effort, and discovering the rule will need data from multiple rule breakers. Keep in mind that if you see a post that didn't result in a ban, it's possible that the mods just haven't seen it yet.
3. Include an email address with your guess. You can make a temporary email here:

Once you have become a mod, it does NOT mean you can no longer play the game. Mods can sit out any round they wish and jump back in to ban people or create their own rules later.
