Rules for registering a party

To register a party, simply post its name here.

Then create an official page for your party. This page should feature the name of your party in the subject for ease of location if you make it a thread. You are more than welcome to make another board, use another website to manage your party, etc. How you manage your party is completely up to you, though a "general" thread in /sen/ is recommended.

Things you may want to place in your party description include…

Your policies
How votes are split (if your party has multiple seats)
etc.

Individuals are not required to form a party to run. They may create a name or be a tripcandyass and run independently if they'd like, but are limited in the total seats they can claim in the /sen/ate.

If your party does not have a single person who owns all the votes (votes are split at a recognizable level), you may run as both an independent candidate and as a representative of your party in forwardpast elections.

NOTE: Please remember that parties must prove their differences to be recognized as separate parties. A "Love Ebola" and "Ebola chan loves you" party are not allowed to coexist unless they can prove a meaningful difference in politics (examples of this include the merging of WiP into PF, or how CaP and COP walk a very fine line).

Rome is victorious!

This is a day of victory not only for Rome and its allies but even for barbs, who may observe what just governance means. We do not take these votes lightly; such a victory is a responsibility and a burden that we as Romans, men, and patricians shall shoulder with the stoic fire of Rome in our hearts.

To our allies, no amount of your support is in vain, and you have our thanks. Know that Rome shall continue to be your stalwart ally and friend in the days ahead. To our enemies, reform or perish. We shall not rest until Rome's glory is restored for the good of the entire human race. We may be slowed, but never stopped.

It isn't. From the looks of it, /sen/ is pretty much dead. It was already pretty low on active members after the first few elections, and Grape Drinks leaving temporarily didn't help. Fun while it lasted.

We need to make it easier for new players, go on a recruiting spree, and hold new elections.

To make it easier for new players, I suggest splitting actions into two stages, first debate, then voting. This way anyone, party member or anon, can join in the /sen/ate's work without needing to have stood for election or even join a party. They just need to post in a debate thread. Then, after either a certain amount of time or when the OP decides, the action can go to vote stage.

This makes things more interactive and allows proposers to get feedback on their actions and to be able to change them in response to feedback so they're more likely to pass.

Also, give people more chances to vote, so they can feel more involved and a newcomers doesn't have to wait ages to stand or vote. Either run an election every weekend for a few additional seats or elect all seats in a series of elections, such as a third every week for a three week cycle.

Above all, make it easier for newcomers to see what's going on and join in. Encourage them to join parties too.

For recruiting, make threads on /pol/, /leftypol/ and any other politics related board asking if they want to vote, join a party or found a party. Try /int/ and other country-related boards too. Also advertised on halfchan /pol/ and similar boards on other sites.

0654da No.12468

>>12466
I'll take that into consideration.

Also, I haven't been able to contact Kane or Weil lately, so I'm gonna go ahead and say that /sen/'s on hold until further notice.

d9c9af No.12469

>>12466
At first, newcomers were easily coming in, but the issue always was that people just wouldn't want to be active. I was the original leader of the Popular Front, and even though we handed out seats to members on multiple occasions, they wouldn't use them and just disappear after a few days.

I think the issue is that /sen/ is set up in a way that fun is only really had when someone playing as a bad guy pops up. The conflict against the Ebola party was the high-point of activity in /sen/, and only then did it occasionally spike up when a new bad guy came along. Otherwise, legislation wasn't really that engaging for most people, because it didn't really effect much.

I just honestly think the entire idea should be revised. I've seen many forum games similar to /sen/ before, and the one thing that usually set it apart was that passed legislation/actions would effect something. Maybe throwing in more of a game element, where legislation can affect an imaginary populace/country would seem more engaging. But fuck, I don't really know.

df1f9a No.12472

>>12468
If they don't want to get involved, that's their problem. Individual mods shouldn't be able to make the whole board grind to a half just by disappearing.

In fact, we should get more active mods so that this doesn't happen again.

>>12469
If we allow people to have a say on things without being here constantly, that will encourage them to keep coming back. That's why I think allowing a debate period where anyone, including unelected anons with no party affiliation, can influence actions.

It could be easier to participate in parties too. Instead of requiring party leaders to deal with that, there could be party elections (for officials, for policy, for how to vote on specific actions) that anyone can participate in, basically by being a "registered voter". Use party flags and a single thread so that it's easy to spot when someone with the same ID is voting in multiple party elections.

Both these ideas mean you don't need a name or trip to get involved.

As for a bad guy, we could create one through advertising the board. Get the Ebola party active again by advertising on /ebola/, get rival left and right-wing parties existing by advertising on /pol/ and /leftypol/ with a request to beat the other board's party, etc.

What have the other bad guys been besides Ebola and the NF affair?

We could have a game element like you suggest in specific threads. The rest of the /sen/ can carry on with posters ignoring it if they want to, but if they like it, they can pass actions about the imaginary populace and the posters behind the imaginary region will take account of any actions that would impact them.

Make it just a region of the country, so that different posters can run different populations. Then, as an example, if an anti-Ebola action is passed, one poster might describe how there's pro-Ebola protests but a fewer people catching it, while in another state (another thread run by a different anon) there's protests complaining about money being wasted on stamping out a disease that hasn't reached them yet.

Treat them like states with /sen/ as the federal government. Tags in thread subjects can be used to make it easy to find the threads you want on in the catalog, and to hide state roleplay threads if you don't like them.
