83f03f No.11108

Islands Act

I request for the senate to recognize the Spratly islands and the Sabah region of northern Borneo as rightful territories of the Philippines.

879ef6 No.11113

No. Seven seats.

4a2466 No.11115

>>11108
Yes, 8 seats.

2992c9 No.11127

>>11108
Senator Supremo, I can't vote on this bill until you tell me why the Sabah region of northern Borneo is a rightful territory of the Philippines.

ef18ab No.11144

I'm with Kane on this. Can you support your reasoning as to why it should be Filipino territory?

83f03f No.11178

a4b0fd No.11201

Why?

Abstain, 17 votes.

328bd4 No.11207

64857d No.11298

Yes, 30 votes.
The Sprately islands and Sabah are rightful territories of the Philippines.

c1e6ec No.11303

HKLIP yes 22
Gimme all your houseworker!

90d965 No.11306

Abstain, 31 seats.

I don't see a strong enough argument for this. Nor a significant movement supported by the masses of Sabah. If I'm mistaken then please explain so and I'd by happy to change the vote.

38f804 No.11324

Abstain. 12 seats.

>University of the Philippines
I wouldn't exactly call that source non-biased.

abc63d No.11338

The Islands, sure

But I think that for the second half it should be
AMMENDED
To say that the Plilipines are rightful territories of the Northen Borneo village of Kota and Belut

No, 10 seats

4fc267 No.11339

>>11330
Of course its biased' it's a territorial claim, that much it's a pretty good one.

>>11338
Well, the claim only includes the eastern half of northern borneo.

ef18ab No.11346

Nay, 10 seats, since there haven't been unbiased sources cited so far, and the claims seem both tenuous and not particularly useful. Show me some proof from outside the Philippines and I'll change my tune. Until then, this seems like annexation.

b7378e No.11372

INVALID VOTE COUNT

60 votes yea (vickersvimy, RxPx, HKLIP)
27 votes nay (Xeno, ConservAnon, Marcus Aurelius)
60 votes abstain (Cherenkov, Leninator, Breakfast)

Action passed with a 69.0% majority.

Reminder that abstainees may change their votes to yea or nay up to six hours after a bill is passed. I feel this is worth mentioning since there were as many abstains as there were ayes.

I also feel obliged to state that unless an adequately unbiased source is cited in the next several hours, I will feel compelled to change Cherenkov's abstains to nays. I agree with Marcus when he says that this seems like annexation, and I cannot in good conscience condone such an action.

624429 No.11378

this is only a recognition of the rightful claims of the Filipino state and people to Sabah. It is not an annexation, we wish only to settle the dispute in Sabah with the help of the international community.

As a board volunteer you do not have the right to change the outcome of the votes.

b7378e No.11379

>>11378

This wouldn't be a board volunteer action on my part. I take great care to keep my volunteer duty and my party duty separate. This is merely an agreement that Cherenkov and I have, as members of the same party.

You could help keep the votes as they are by providing unbiased third-party evidence supporting the claims of the action. Short of that, I intend to change my party's votes to nay, unless Cherenkov himself shows up in the time remaining and does something about it.

As there is no western interest, but only of that of the Philippine State to serve it's duty as a sovereign nation after the heirs of the Sultan of Sulu ceded the sovereignty of Sabah to the Philippine goverment, and the interests of the Bangsamoro people, there is no unbiased third-party "evidence" but only history itself.

You as a volunteer should be apolitical, the vote has been cast, and that should be the end of it.
It's like you westerners have no concept of responsibility, western lack of responsibility is why we're having a dispute in the first place.

Weil is doing this as his parties leader, which he is entitled to do, not as a board volunteer. Nothing he has done is an abuse of volunteer powers.

b7378e No.11383

>>11381

I am apolitical. Perhaps you should take a look at my party's thread before you cast judgement on me in that regard. I care very little for politics in general, except when they threaten the pursuit of knowledge, science, technology, and human rights and lives. Speaking of which, what do the people of Sabah have to say about this matter? I would accept their opinions in lieu of "unbiased third party evidence".

As for the vote "being cast", there is an action that was passed some time ago that granted abstainees the right to change their votes up to six hours after voting on a bill has ended. My fellow ACP member has abstained with his portion of our party votes. We have an agreement which allows me to use his votes in his absence. It's as simple as that.

It's worth noting that if he had voted either yea or nay, I would have left his vote as cast with no qualms. However, he specifically asked "Why?" after the sole link citing evidence supporting this bill was posted, which gives me reason to believe he saw no point in this bill, which is acceptable grounds, in my opinion, to change his abstains in his place to nays.

party leaders shouldnt be volunteers then

>>11383
i doubt that you are the senate is political in nature. the population of sabah is technically filipino. in regards of what the sabahan population thinks, there is a large number of them that support our claim, after the royal security of forces of the sultan of sulu and north borneo that tried to retake the sabah were mostly made up of sabahans.

Hog wash. Weil has done nothing that is against the rules. If you don't like it, then propose a new rule.

Post evidence, not claims. Link's to non-biased sources about the issue.

This whole argument is moot anyways.
We made a mistake. This action failed to reach the quorum.

ACTION FAILED

60 votes yea (vickersvimy, RxPx, HKLIP)
27 votes nay (Xeno, ConservAnon, Marcus Aurelius)
60 votes abstain (Cherenkov, Leninator, Breakfast)

Failure to reach quorum.

78 yeas are the minimum to pass a law.

We are very sorry for the mistake.

b7378e No.11429

>>11391

Upon looking back over the pastebins, it seems that the quorum applies to "yeas, nays, and abstains". This is entirely too much red tape for me to tackle at the moment, as it implies that at least a few past actions may have been improperly passed or failed, but I assure you all that it will receive proper attention. As per this discovery, the results for this vote are as follows:

ACTION FAILED

60 votes yea (vickersvimy, RxPx, HKLIP)
44 votes nay (Xeno, ConservAnon, Marcus Aurelius, Cherenkov Weil)
43 votes abstain (Leninator, Breakfast)

Vote failed by 8.3% (57.7% approval).

For reference, quorum law can be found here:

Again, apologies for the confusion.
