They'd have to rebalance the entire support system if they changed his gender so that all the conversations and character endings could account for that. I haven't been following FATES, so I don't know if it has child units/inheritance in it like Awakening did, but they'd have to redesign that system too if they were to go out of their way to change someone's gender. They did a good job on the ports to Steam/Vita, so I believe they can do it. Loern(?) or whoever was in charge of Oddworld Inhabitants said he's really like to make those 5 games he originally wanted to back in the day in the Oddworld series.
