When you go to the page there's 4 tabs. My worry is that they're going to try to tie it in with the rest in some shitty way, I'm pretty certain they're gonna try to do that sooner than later. Especially now that the anime seems to be a success. God knows why. Either the game will try not to get too far ahead with its plot twists, the two will have a lot of plot twists that will affect one another and completely kill both parts because they're only explained in one side or the game will try to keep itself from getting too serious so it'll be easier to tie the anime in later. The only things they'll share will most likely be just general world concepts with the viruses, Liberator and (I forgot what other was called), and the islands existence. Good multi media franchises will help you understand things like the effects of certain techniques (for example, a Street Fighter anime should show you rough techniques used most online or in tournaments for players to try to replicate), non-essential but interesting facts about characters (everything the Pokédex says can be found in the games, but you're much more likely to pay attention to them in the anime), or tell you two self-contained stories that tell you more about the world in general without leaving anything remotely essential to your understand of the actual stories out in either one.
>>129214
Basically. But there are more ways they can fuck it up. Like I said, one part can hold the other back without them being directly related. I wouldn't be surprised if they just throw terms around without explanation because "we've all watched the anime already" for example.

The only time I would really see your complaint to be truly worrysome is if the game utilized the same characters from the anime which isn't the case. Plus, it's a different island which most likely operates with different rules so they're more than likely gonna be explaining things in the game and going off the assumption that someone is jumping into the franchise from just the game.

I'm expressing worry. It's not quite the same. I'm saying that I'm afraid that they will either not use the potential of multi-media, or that the multi-media shit will hold it back. And to be quite honest, that's not unjustified. The anime has made it extremely hard to get even a sliver of potential out of its multi media potential, based on what I've seen and heard. Besides "more girls". Whoo.
Please don't put words in my mouth about shitting on the franchise either. I am still interested in seeing what the games will do, and I do not like being told that my worry is somehow hatred.

No he said those four terms are needed to understand the setting, not the plot. You're just so eager to badmouth VD
No.129239
>>129237
You're being intentionally obtuse you realize that, yes?
Every single piece of media can be reduced to its basic terms but that doesn't necesarrily means is all what is are to it.
Take Senran Kagura, the only thing you need to understand is that is about a busty ninja girls. Mario? Pudgy Plumber having wacky adventures and rescuing princesses. And so on.
Is fine if you don't like VD but stop trying to pass your bias as valid arguments agains it
No.129240
>>129237
The four terms are only used as world concepts that help drive the plot, but aren't the plot themselves. Like for Senran Kagura you could say that there's ninja schools some have good shinobi while others have evil shinobi. The ninja schools and good and evil shinobi make up the concepts of that franchise's universe but aren't the general plot themselves. Since I've really only played SV I'll use that as an example. Those concepts exist in both Burst and SV however the plot of each game differs. Using the perspective of Hanzo Academy they introduce the Shinobi Battle Royale which becomes the big plot element for the conflict between Hanzo and Gessen Academy. The concepts of good and evil shinobi are used here as well but are used to drive the plot forward.
So you can't really base what happens in the anime of Valkyrie Drive solely on the core concepts of the VD-verse. Those concepts only enhance the overall story which in Mermaid's case is being able to escape the island, finding out more about this virus, and Tokonome returning to her family. I hope this helps in anyway.

You misconstrued that post to shit on the anime.
"There are only four terms needed to understand the franchise:
Ecsta, Liberator, Hybrid and Armed Virus and literally the introduction of every part of the franchise tells you what are those"
That means, in order to understand the setting you need to know those four terms. You took this as meaning the story for the anime is going nowhere and replied to it in less than a minute. If this doesn't show eagerness to talk shit I don't what it shows

Mechanical aspects of tech, magic or biology are easier to keep consistent between separate teams than characterisation and story, they're making separate worlds with an underlying framework of what works so they can make characters that can develop at their own pace in one medium, so we don't get things like the retreading of story themes like a character forgot their development in a different section of the franchise.
