This is where we really, really need to define terms properly. What is flirting? When is it too much? If even two posts is too much, how the hell are people even going to reach the Chatzy? What I meant to say is that people can't even really get into any sort of mood if they can't even call one another handsome or whatever, know what I mean? I wasn't literally asking how people would find the Chatzy. I'm not saying the main thread should be foreplay or anything, not even close to that, but that there should be enough room to actually guage if someone is interested in taking it elsewhere.

I widely agree with the middle section here. I would disagrew with the number two, but the wording of "around" does make it workable for both parties, I'd say. If it gives the horny party a chance to actually make the move elsewhere, while giving the not-so-horny party a chance to politely point out the rules if it passes something like three or four response. And as long as there's two factors in play, it should definitely be feasible, as far as I can see. These factors are:

-The reminders of the rules being decently polite. Anything that isn't flat out rude or a moral judgement on the act of flirting itself should do, really. Reminders should be given, but a wrong tone can really make things escalate immediately.

-The ERP thread actually being within reach. I would like to actually request that we make it a sticky or part of the OP because of this. Flirting, while common enough to be a distraction for some folks, is not common enough to sustain a thread like that without people having to actively dig through the front page and/or catalog for it. And if people have to dig for it, it would kill all motivation to take it elsewhere and increase the chance of repeat offences.

I actually don't have the ERP thread bookmarked. It was kind of kill immediately because it never became relevant. We never had much of a reason to go there because:

-The line of when something was going too far was unclear

However, there's an issue inherent with that as well. The Chatzy is very much intimate, and a completely different format. There's no disagreement in the first two parts of your post. But the reason people didn't go there, from my perspective, is that everyone lost track of it too quickly and it wasn't a big enough thing to really bookmark. Which is why it would make sense to put it in the OP: it gets rid of both of those excuses.

And the reason for that is because it's really quite hard to determine when anyone is in any sort of mood for it otherwise. Usually people don't even feel any desire to go to the Chatzy at all unless there has been a short back and forth keyword being short, as that usually tends to do it. In general it's incredibly hard to immediately ask someone usually without any context, in the scenario being proposed to head to the Chatzy. What I personally am advocating for is to make it possible to make the first move, without giving my own side enough room for the flirting to be an actual issue.

I'd say limit the rule to "No flirting in the generals" That shouldn't raise any issues unless people are actually cheeky enough to flirt in the story thread or some other non-general non-erp thread. Chan culture is a harsh mistress. People like me who've been on chans for a long time know that posts and threads deemed "stupid" are punished very harshly by the community. It leaves one a little apprehensive to make threads and posts for fear of the backlash.

Its one of the reasons i've enjoyed my stay on /senran/. You guys are all perfectly friendly and reasonable people which you don't see very often in chans. But newcomers and others are still going to be a little skittish about posting new content. Having something as simple as a rule encouraging more posting and alternate discussion may be enough for people to relax and increase the content flow.
