Yeah, I remember Easy strips being just tag countering small stuff and using aerials on big ones. Come to think of it, have you tried B ninpos? I don't think I knew about those when I completed the full strips and they hit both sections on people, might work well on Youma.

Yeah in the game there are nametag collectibles which you get from examining corpses littered around the school. Each tag comes with a different name with some of the names being characters that get more development in the later games. It also lists the cause of death which gives better insight as to what happened to those characters. Honestly though I've been replaying the game to see what kind of hints were given to the witchcraft and black magic aspects that's brought up in the later games especially Blood Drive

Oh it's clear which ending is canon since that's where the prologue chapter to Blood Drive begins a few weeks after. In terms of the other games so far it doesn't mess up their endings especially since a majority of Book of Shadows were what-if stories however I still question whether or not Yui had that initial run-in with that ghost in BoS. In terms of the witchcraft aspects there were very slight nods and vague clues to them like Naho being a spirit medium and most importantly the black magic circle that's drawn in one of the classrooms that Ayumi recognizes in the last chapter of the first game Hopefully the Extra Chapters might give more insight into this.
