I had a demo of FO1 waaaaay back in the day and I'd always wanted to play the full version and wasn't able to until maaany years later and I broke the game by finding a super mutant base early on and found a way to cheese some kills and then a friend told me about a self-destruct key I could steal and then I blew up the base and got massive exp and completely #rekt the game.
The fact that this was even possible made me fall in love with the game (FO1 was my first WRPG). I immediately rushed and got Fallout 2 but I didn't end up getting very far in it.
If you ask me, the new stuff doesn't hold a candle to FO1 but they are good in their own way.

my first was 2 so I was pretty excited when I heard the guys that made the elder scrolls game were making a fallout I was excited cause I loved me some morrowind. I mean I liked fallout 3 at the time but after replaying it over and over it just got more and more bland for me. I even tried replaying it not too long ago and just straight up stopped out of boredom. I like new vegas a whole lot more. You can have wildly different character playthoughs. 2 is just the BEST though. You just have to power through that first dungeon but when the game starts to pick up it gets real good. I have the original trilogy (1, 2, and tictacs) on a DVD disc I bought from gamestop for like 15 bucks. totally worth the money. I also own them on GoG for free before bethesda took them down and reuploaded them.

It turns out that clumps of dust were collecting in the small space in-between my CPU heatsink and fan that I wasn't cleaning properly before. That would explain my high CPU temperature and crashes. And the other problems were probably from CPU throttling. Glad that's taken care of. My computer's a lot quieter now too. It did kind of feel like it was louder than it should be.
