i like how the graphics are vastly improved in the vita version, you'd think they'll just leave there SV resources but no, it looks almost like the PS4 version. but oh god that unstable framerate flip-floping from smooth ninja action to cinematic EDF experience.

I've been playing Estival for a bit and the way I've found to describe it is "missed potential"
The game only improved Versus' graphics but didn't bothered to fix any of its issues and in fact, it added some new ones. Despite the game running pretty smoothly at 60 fps the game itsel feels incredibly sluggish. There's a lot of cooldown between attacks and there's not a lot of option to cancel them, making the combat feel very limited.
Even on hard you can simply mash the basic combo your character to pass through the levels. Just like in Versus any kind of difficulty stems from poorly designed mooks rather than an actual challenge. The cast is awfully balanced with those characters having long range attacks or status effects tied to their attacks having a natural advantage over everyone's else.
The Yang, Yin and Flash mechanic has become stale and rather than motivate you to try different setups is better to simply ignore it and focus on the form it works. Ninpos are still overpowered as hell and you get items to restock them as it they were candies so you can simply spam ninpos to beat the bosses or deal with cheap mooks.
Despite the graphic power of the PS4 there's little graphic variety in stages and mooks, that paired with the sheer amount of enemies the game throws at you. It makes easy for the game to become incredibly "mechanical"
Camera still sucks and the lock is utterly useless so most of the time you'll end flailing around in a generl direction hoping you'll hit something. Out of all the new mechanics the recovering is the only one worth a damn and even then, it gets gimped for how often you're send flying away from your enemies. Wall running is pointless in regular game as is the parry, you can simply hold your guard against bosses and retaliate when they break your guard since the penalty for it is minimal.
Honestly, I'd take a dedicated dodge mechanic over the guard one any day of the week. Bhikkhuni has one and the game is a lot more enjoyable by it.
The writing on the game is also a new low for the series. While I found the criticism of tone dissonance on previous games to be very debatable, in this game is so obvious that hurts. Is incredibly hard to get involved in the story when it goes from serious to retarded at the drop of a hat. The character favoritism on this game is also pretty irritating, just Gessen and Hebijo get an acceptable writing, everyone else gets hit with the flanderization stick so hard that pretty much become retarded.

I haven't played it on PS4 but I do know that the attacks do seem a little more deliberate on Vita. Take Hibari for instance, she has the same look as her moves in SV, but post-patch she's slower. I've personally found combos to feel more rewarding when they come off this time, especially with the way some of the opponents are very block-happy.

I haven't had a problem with the camera on Vita, but after SV I do think it's a possibility. As for lock-on, I feel like it was given a new life when you use Kafuru, since I feel like she relies on it
I'd prefer dodging and blocking myself, or perhaps a toggle for us to manipulate movesets.
As for the writing, I actually think that focusing on Gessen/Hebijo is what the series needed. We needed a reason to see them as people, as part of the same universe the Hanzo and Crimson are in and while I'd love to get more time with the first ten, the Versus girls do get to enjoy some attention and writing that isn't just tailored to meet a specific story.

Anyways, Mirei was released for Bhikkhuni and she's freaking awesome. She's sort of Daidouji, bonus character that is overpowered as hell.
There's a lot of detail and care put in her as well, many of her animations are direct reference to the show and she works differently to the other characters due only being able to use Mamori as Exster.

Also, EV is genuinely great so far. SV gave me rather low expectations, but it blows SV out of the water in almost every respect. The Versus gals get actual development and are shown to be actual people (in SV they reeked of missed potential), the gals actually get fair screentime (Hanzõ and Crimson don't get as much as the other two schools, but the time is efficiently used to move the plot forwards and to develop the gals without rushing it), and the implications of everything shown so far will almost undoubtedly have a huge impact on the next part of the series.
Gameplay is slower, but it's not exactly sluggish either. At first is plays like ass, but once you reach roughly level 5 you will actually start playing quite smoothly, and the fact that you're more committed to your moves helps making it so that you don't mindlessly spam dash. Only issue is that you can't readjust yourself as quickly as before, but it's also harder for enemies to dodge, which compensates for that pretty well.
Also, some characters that played like ass, like Minori and Murasaki, are now fun to play as, even if they might not be good per se.
Speaking of Murasaki, I'm pleasantly surprised that she's just to piss me off, even though I'm 75% in. She's definitely become a better person between this game and SV, even though she's still the same on the surface.
My hopes that this game would be only slightly less competent than SK2 have been met. It's definitely the second best game in the series.
Anyway, I need two write some stuff up, I've just seen a scene that really made me think. The next game will definitely be worth looking forward to, if I read the implications of the scene correctly.

Definitely, SV is a joke compared to this game, so it's best to play it first and see why EV is that much better. Unless they completely fuck the last two days up so much that it devalues everything, which doesn't seem to be the case so far, it's only almost as good as SK2. The main thing in EV that's worse is that the first few levels of a character are not that fun, because their combos are incomplete when EV is balanced around mostly complete combos for the most part.
Also, I'll try Pokkén cosplay too! But not yet… I want to finish my first EV cosplay first! Almost done with it, haha. For Pokkén I'll need to progress further as well, you don't get all the tools from the start.

You know, I feel like it would work better if your health and Ninja Arts weren't fully restored upon leveling up. Going through the story mode for the first time, it seems like you can often just use a level 5 ninpo, get a high combo and level up during it, use another, level up again, et cetera. Oh, I forgot to mention, but the thing I might like most about EV is that it encourages exploration. The maps are bigger and more detailed, and they have hidden objects for you to destroy for extra content. They're generally easy to find if you're looking for them, but they add extra depth by getting you to look around and walk off the beaten path. It helps that, while there are still invisible walls, they're a lot more limited in quantity. And the actual barriers in the stage often get you to explore the maps more thoroughly for different ways to pass through them, as opposed to being "ugh, invisible walls" to break your immersion.
