To be fair, she is the default selected character, selected menu voice, used for the game's title screen and icons, stuff like that. You've got to be trying pretty hard to deny the fact that the game presents Gessen and Yumi as being the main faction and the main character instead of Hanzou and Asuka. Considering how the game's story focuses on the Ryouna, Ryoubi, and Ryouki plot line the most, you'd also expect maybe them to be on the title screen or something instead of just Yumi by herself. I'm not saying anything about the way the game treats Yumi one way or the other myself, but I'm just saying it's not a totally unsubstantiated observation to make. If people have that opinion, that's fine. I see what they're saying.

It never specifically states that she's "weakened." The game says that the reason Yumi won was because her will was stronger because of her emotions or whatever. That's the canon reason. She's coughing up blood and seems weak, yes, but she's like that during all of her fights as Jasmine, not just the one against Yumi. If you want to interpret it as Hanzou, Hebijo, and Crimson wearing Jasmine down from their fights to the point where she's not as strong as she was when she fought the other girls and she can now be finished off by only one person, that is logical, but it is not stated or implied in-game, so it's really only a possible interpretation of it. Don't assert your own personal interpretations of the story as canon.
It's also not irrelevant that this happens right after Yumi beats Asuka and Homura in a one-on-two fight, possibly implying she is stronger than both of them combined. You can interpret that however you want too, but you can't deny that it does seem to reinforce the interpretation that Yumi is supposed to be much stronger than all of the other girls. It definitely gives that impression, and if that's what someone thinks the game is trying to say, there is some truth to that interpretation. They can think that if they want to.

Okay, I played some EV multiplayer and earned several wins to Mirai's name. Finding a game can take a little while, but it's kind of fun when you do. I'm just not sure if the PvP is deep enough to actually allow skill and strategy to affect your chances of winning. I tried to take advantage of Mirai's range and shoot people from a distance as much as I could, but that really just means running away all the time so you can get a couple free hits before they charge at you. I guess I'm supposed to use a counter to, uh, counter that, but that's easier said than done over Wi-Fi. Oh well, I had fun, and that's what matters.

More or less. In her untransformed moveset, she has these two moves that shoot bullets 360 degrees around her. While her bullets track enemies, they only curve a little, so the ones actually fired in your opponent's general direction will make contact when you do those attacks, but the rest of the bullets just end up orbiting behind your opponent in converging directions. It looks kind of cool even if it isn't useful, and it actually does remind me a little of Touhou where you've got half of the bullets on-screen not even being aimed at you and just there to look cool even though you can't really get hit by them.
Anyway, I like the idea of having her gunbrella shooting preset patterns of lots of slow-moving homing bullets like it's a danmaku. If they refined it a bit and combined that combat style of her parasol in EV with the ability to switch to also switch to different weapons like in SK2, that would be the perfect Mirai!

Something like that to give the combat some more strategy would be nice. Your best option in SK is to just press the square button most of the time. The combat is not exactly deep.
You know, the second-to-last move in her transformed move chain summons two Gatling guns and works exactly the same as using the Gatling gun in SK2. It seems to do a little more damage and have a little shorter range, but it mechanically functions the same way where you can't move except for slowly turning left or right while it fires straight ahead continuously, so I guess you could say she still has her Gatling gun from SK2. It actually might work better being something you have to do a long combo chain uninterrupted to use instead of just pulling it out whenever and being able to spam it indefinitely. That makes it so it doesn't have to be useless to balance it out.
Maybe if the grenade launcher was her level 5 ninpo, that would balance it?

I finished the prologue and then jumped into the special missions in hard to familiarize myself with the game. As you can imagine, the bosses had a field day with a level 1 Yumi (I could only beat the mission when she got to level 12) but when I did Asuka's mission I finished at my third attempt with Asuka on level 7.
Then I jumped on the same missions with Dai and got B ranks on my first attempts, landing an A on the subsequent attempts.
From there I leveled up my characters to level 12 on Yomi's first level and blazed through the story.

After I beat it I got to work on grinding Kafuru and Yagyuu to level 50 with max Yin. I don't use Frantic often (Never in SK2) but I did accidentally trigger it a few times in EV and it helped
