Her missile barrages do far less than I thought they did. I manged to build up a second scroll while Ryona did most of the baiting. Let off a Ricochet Prelude when i was up close and Ryoki finished one of her barrages. Got most of the health down, but then I ended up have to cheese it with bullet spam. Still won though.

It's good, has the Hit-Block/Counter-Throw triangle, and has an interesting dynamic of switching from 3D to 2D on heavy attacks or finishers. I'm not good enough at fighting games to tell you anything useful about deeper concepts or balance.

Considering how it has two Pikachu, Charizard and two Mewtwos, it's presumably based on popularity. Gallade, Chandalure and R. Pika seem to be in for interesting ideas, though.

Splatoon's a riot, I need to play it more. It's well- suited to Nintendo's default mode, too, make a game, wait for the next console generation, whack out another, they just need to get people playing it through the interim without turning it into TF2.
>>173474
Damn! Here in Britain, they aren't even the same nozzle, you pick the green, red or black for unleaded, four star or diesel, and you tell the cashier where you filled up.
Maybe America's different, but if someone's being a cunt over here, you get plenty of sympathy, though that's mainly because the bastard's holding up the queue.

I liked the Penumbra series a lot back before Amnesia came out, but Frictional has been following the trend that the whole industry is of gradually dumbing down games and having less features than older games in favor of a more cinematic experience with pretty graphics. No more inventory, and no more puzzles more complicated than finding a red key card lying on the ground to open a red door or sequentially pressing combinations of buttons until something happens.
No.173502
>>173499
after playing both extensively I prefer bayo 1. The combat feels more satisfying, I like the story better (stuff like boss fights and some scenes have more of a heaviness to them if that makes sense), and also there's some little things about bayo 2 that I don't like for example combo counters just cap at 99 while bayo 1 they cap out at 999. so while in bayo one im in the 500s for some combos. in bayo 2 it's just all maxed out already. it kinda bothers me. again that's really minor but whatever.
difficulty also is significantly easier for bayo 2.
>>173500
ahh alright alright
>>173501
yeah I definitely see what you mean. I like complexity in puzzles because it creates a sense of urgency especially in a horror game. as long as you don't make it easy for the player to constantly die and therefore dull the sensation of getting caught making the game less scary I don't see a reason why a horror game should've have puzzles

>>173498

>>173499
He sleeps during the day, he's up at night. Talk to him when his speech bubble is orange.
Bayo 1 is more grounded and safe. A lot of the weapons you get are variations on the pistols to some extent, changing firing rate and power, and the levels are much browner(I think last gen used muted colour palettes to hide upscaling artefacts) and flatter, whereas Bayo 2 is crazy colourful and plays with gravity and what-not, and has weird weapons like the foot swords, bow, chain chomp, and so on that make some weapons feel wrong against certain enemies.
>>173501
I think a lot of older horror games weren't exactly helped by making you manage inventory, it can be good in the right hands, but like Bethesda dumbing down their stuff and going full murder hobo, some devs are just finding the level they can perform adequately at by dropping what they suck at.
>>173502
Boss fights were definitely more structured in Bayo 1, you were definitely building up to a big fight against one of the Virtues, otherwise it was just Jeanne, whereas Bayo 2 had constant randos that diluted any major bosses.
No.173508
>>173507
>Spoiler Warning is a Let's Play series that leans away from comedy and focuses on analysis
interesting…
bayo 2 also kept bringing back foritudo a lot like
>oh hey remember this guy? oh yeah this guy is back!
and it felt a bit cheap? It's probably one of my favorite boss fights in the original but having him come back just felt pretty mehh
No.173509
>>173508
Don't be fooled, they goof around a ton, mainly because they like to play the game in a way people wouldn't normally see. Josh usually plays it Chaotic Stupid. Watch the Amnesia episode for some comedic hijinks. They do some interesting analysis, far beyond most, it's a bit ropey at times but they're actually articulate about why they have their stupid opinions.
Yeah, lot of Fortitudo, but it think it's because he's a torso with arms, so he has fewer articulation points and is easier to jam in to a level. I think they were going for spectacular with more boss fights, when I could have gone for some more Grace and Glory and other mook fights. You may have noticed I have a thing for those guys when we played.
No.173510
>>173506
It still bugs me how for a lot of games there's always a damn day one patch
No.173511
>>173510
it's inevitable the further technology improves because you can't keep delaying a game. you make it gold and then after that you make note of any bugs and shit you find and make a patch fixing those. it's just how shit is.
>>173509
grace and glory are fun as hell. I remember when I first fought against them in bayo 1 for the very first time I had hit such a fucking wall until I learned about dodge offset.
No.173512
>>173510
Well, if there are going to be patches, it makes sense they'd find some stuff while the game is working its way through certification. They'd shape up real quick if people decided they wouldn't buy a game until it was in proper working order, because they want those first week sales, but it feels like a minor thing to ding them on. Only reason Nintendo bothers is because the game has to be self-sufficient so you can throw it at a kid and leave them to it.
No.173513
>>173510
It's one thing if its for minor things like bug fixes and content updates, while taking up not that much space.
It's another when they're gigantic in the case of the Halo games on Xbone when they're half the fucking content on disk.
>>173503
Up and at em
>>173507
Will do.
But Bayonetta being more grounded than its sequel? That's something I never would have though. I sure do appreciate how more colorful Bayonetta 2 is in comparison though, I love it when games have color.
No.173514

I actually aced my first fight against them, because I played W101 first and knew how to fuck up Tora, with slow time. They're a neat little microcosm of the game, if you can handle them, you're golden. On the Kamiya commentary, he said they were the first enemies they programmed, though they had to be programmed to take turns so they wouldn't just gangbang you and ruin your shit.
No.173515

I didn't think about it like that. It just that she has this skill that cost 1 SP and is a dash that has a chance to paralyze thanks to lighting. It does a shitton of damage if you build her like a glass cannon, so dash through a wave, wipe some of them, one of them drops Nep Bull, you dash into that, gain 2 SP and some HP and keep on going till everyone is dead. Having her partner as Nepgear is a good idea since she will almost always take Nepgear into a full exe drive and Nepgear gets fucking insane when she's in CPU mode.

Yeah, it's another spinoff, but fighting zombies as high school students instead of the normal game-based mooks in gameindustri. I swear, this series has more reboots and spinoffs than DC does. Nothing complex enough happens in Neptunia to really warrent that through. Each game could be similar to a monster of the week type-format then. By adding in elements like other dimensions and stuff, you not only partly nullify the player achievements in one world, but it encourages lazy writing in characters (as they shift slightly game to game) and just kinda make the worlds feel lifeless. Then you get people like MAGES who jump from dimension to dimension willy nilly anyway.
Like, I'm not expecting great writing here, we're here to watch cute girls do cute things when it comes to Neptunia, but a little stability in place and time, a basic skill all writers should have, would be nice.

I can forgive a new dimension between Rebirth 1 and Rebirth 2, given Rebirth 1 (And thus, the original game) ending. But yeah, I also been playing through Rebirth 3 and most of it is Nep falling into another dimension and fighting some new villains mixed with villains she already defeated. Pretty lame, honestly. Plutia is cool and all, but she could still be a CPU without a nation in the original timeline that Neptunia jumped from as well.
Rebirth 3 also has an opening with malware or something rewriting games and that is never touched upon again either.

True but I guess they wanted to try something different but at the same time they didn't want to alienate fans. So instead of a game starring just Plutia it's Nep and Plutia.

Exodus I think? Played on PS3 a while back and stopped at some snow place with a bunch of dragon jerks. Or jerks that hated dragons, I forget and I'd love to try to get a static going. I'm more than willing to go to a new one to get used to PC stuff though.

I play on Leviathan. It's a quiet server with usual gold sellers. The place you're thinking of is Camp Dragonhead. One of the most comfy places in the game. It's also one of the most grinded spots in the game due to the high amount of fast, easy, high yield FATES.

Experiencing a blast from the past playing Halo 3 and Left 4 Dead 2. Really fun games, but I think I've gotten worse in vidya.
Glad the 360 still has some gems, especially since some multiplats seem to be cheaper on it. Though I still prefer my PS3 and Wii U more.

It's got some neat shit. Spent most of my time on it playing Saints Row 1 and 2, Terraria with big little bro, and Bayo. Some people have this idea that SR1 was super serious, but it wasn't, it just wasn't mental like 2.
Yeah, reaction times and skill go down as you age and take breaks.

I was looking at Dai's moveset on EV and is literally the same as SK2. They only tweaked the animations but the actual inputs are the same, they added the option to increase the damage by allowing to charge of most inputs
but they sacrficed her stance mode and overall, SK2's moveset was way more versatile
No.173772

Saints Row 1 is still pretty ridiculous compared to other sandbox games at the time, I guess people only bring up that comparison because it and Saints Row 2 were grounded the most in their own worlds.
