Why would the Russians kill the engineers? They could have continued development if it was such a feared weapon, and killing your engineers is never a good thing to do. Especially not in SciFi.

You can make a story great by having different, contradicting viewpoints, all of which have arguments in their favor. This allows the reader to choose for himself the viewpoint he finds most compelling after carefully waging the pros and cons. In fact, he can decide himself what is good and what is bad about an ideology. In other words, if you want to "save" this setting, you could try making a case for national socialism or communism instead of just bitching about the way it is now.

I suggest you keep contributing to it, as your old ideas were good (all old ideas were good). As it is now, the setting is far from being a war of ideologies. Add a few more sentient space stations and some mutants in radioactive wastelands in and the underwater-libertarians will become yet another curiosity in the universe. As for me, if it's so controversial and if you haven't gotten here from /liberty/ just to bitch about the libertarians, I'll be happy to keep further libertarianism to a minimum and focus on other stuff in the meantime.
