Star Wars Battlefront series: Nice rooty tooty point and shooty. Dated, but still plenty of fun when modded.
Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion: Fun babby strategy game that is easily modded to be just about any of the major science fiction franchises.
Mass Effect: Daddy issues: The Game, fun roleplaying
Halo: Fun universe and lore, as well as a blast to play.

Metroid holds a special place in my heart.
As does Halo 2 and XCOM: UFO Defense.

The new X games.
Mass Effect 3's final half hour.

Halo 2 was my favorite of the series.

The latest X game was such shit. I enjoyed every single game made prior to Rebirth though.

 No.174

Mass Effect 2 was great.

I'm really liking Alien Isolation so far. The character animations are pretty wimpy, but everything else is a ton of fun.

 No.229

I used to be really into Mass Effect but I'm not really into it anymore. I really like games like Deus Ex, E.Y.E, and Fallout so probably those titles.

 No.241

I'm loving the fuck out of Elite Dangerous right. Glorious space porn

 No.243

I fucking love Mass Effect

 No.251

Old games are best games. No DLC bullshit, no patches, just complete, good working games. So for me it's

>F-Zero

>Lylat Wars (aka Star Fox 64)

>Star Wars: Rogue Squadron

>Perfect Dark

 No.252

I still need to finish Mass Effect. I'm worried about the sequels after being on /v/ so much, but I liked what I played of that one.

 No.254

I am currently playing I have no mouth and I must scream. It's GOTY (well, Game Of The Year 1995, but it's still great).

 No.255

I'm a big fan of batshit insane imaginitve settings, like the Oddworld series.

 No.258

Best is Deus Ex, although I have only played Human Revolution so far. I know.

 No.290

Mass Effect is great for its characters and dialogue, but it's gotten softer over the years, I think. Biotics always used to be pretty retarded, but eventually, they outright turned into space-magic. Also, fuck the Asari, they are a shit-tier species and deserve to go extinct.

The worst thing about Mass Effect, something that really pulls the series down, is how little effort was put into some things. It took Bioware until Mass Effect 3 to show a female turian and a female krogan, and at least turian females are not suppsoed to be that rare. All the drell have just been recolors of each other, visually; they even wear the same damn fucking retarded outfit.

With all that said, I still think Mass Effect is a great series, but if I had written it, it would be a lot different.

>>254

The game is awesome. Good choice!

Wing Commander by a long shot. Loved the lore and the universe

 No.440

Are there even modern sci-fi games other than Mass Effect and some ego-shooters with little in the way of storytelling?

Problem is that if I ever install it again I won't be able to detach from the screen until I finish it.

Well there is the fantastic FTL that definitely has a universe it is built around

>>56

I will list my favs and offer a small explaination:

==Mass Effect-== I really liked the first one out of all of them the best. I thought the thing that made it a great Sci-Fi game was the exploring the planets that weren't the main locations. It gave me that feeling of landing on and exploring a new world, kind of like in Star Trek. I like how each planet had different characteristics and backstories and hazards. It was worth ignoring the combat quality or the Mako handling

==KOTOR-== Just because the Lord of the Rings universe and fandom is at such an epic level sometimes I forget it is Sci-Fi. I loved the KOTOR games and I believe that KOTOR II is one of the most underrated games of all time. I loved that there was a Jedi/Sith in Kreia who called out both the Jedi and the Sith as being flawed. I found it really interesting looking at the force and force users from a mindset more in the middle and much more pragmatic.

==FTL-== FTL is so addictive. It really makes you feel like you are the Captain of your own ship the way you would dream of being the captain of a ship like the Enterprise. Really has that "one more battle" feel.

I am sure I am forgetting some other games, but I feel like these 4 or so examples are good.

Mass effect is great. Gameplay is probably it's weakest point, but I still love it.

What? They really did nothing wrong. Everyone is just mad on them, because they didn't like how cerberus did things. But few thousand people dying is a very small price to pay, if the research could help in saving the entire galaxy.

>>698

How is it bullshit? Would it be better to save some people from Cerberus just to let them die with everyone else a bit later? That would be a tragedy if they didn't live long enough to witness these dubles.

Anno 2070 and Mass Effect

I wasted hours with the games and hope that eventually a game with an open world will be released where our decisions actually matter. Strategy and building would be a nice touch too

Dat Nexus: A Jupiter Incident. I played that game for months and months. Modding was fun.

Incoming enemy missile. Our squadrons are under attack. Enemy shields have collapsed. All squadrons have been destroyed.
