They all kind of feel like cheating. I think the best depiction of FTL, and the only thst didn't feel like cheating, was in The Forever War, as it actually showed relativity at work.

FTL in Warhammer means that you basically jump through the dimension hell is located in. It's the same way psionic powers work: You tap into the powers of a dimension that includes hell, so if you fuck up, you end up being the vessel of a demon.

FTL was pretty cool in Old Man's War. Basically, you went to an alternate reality in which you already existed in a different spot.

Familiarize yourself with different theoretical methods of FTL-travel, like the Alcubierre-Warp Drive, travelling through another dimension and so on. Pick the one you like the most, establish the rules for it in-universe and figure out what to do about relativity.
