Star Wars is leaning more in the direction of science fantasy, but fits within the umbrella of /sf/.

This thread is for the discussion of Episodes 1-6, the books, the games, The Clone Wars, the comics and anything else related to the franchise you can think of.

We are also of course discussing the Sequel Trilogy.

What is everybody's favorite movie? Mine is The Empire Strikes Back.

It was different from the other two original movies in that the plot didn't revolve around a doomsday machine with a silly weakness. The rebels were on the run, and in the end you felt like they didn't win anything. Noticeably higher production values when compared to the first, although this is to be expected. I felt like a lot of the actors really slipped into their characters much better this time. Some of Han's lines felt a bit forced or cheesy in the first, but everything seemed to work flawlessly.

I have a few complaints though, mostly regarding the neck vulnerability-but-sometimes-not-vulnerability on the AT-ATs and shitty TIE pilots.

I honestly don't know. Maybe Return of the Jedi. Not only did it show nicely how Luke has grown as a character, I also liked the scenes in Jabbas palace. Yes, I'm a big rancor fan.

What's less good about it were the Ewoks. I felt cheated when I found out they were originally supposed to be Wookies.

The stupid little teddy bears make me want to throw up every time. Somehow they take down "an entire legion of the Emperor's best men". I could totally see a bunch of wookies taking on hordes of stormtroopers though. That would have been fun to watch. Heads getting bashed together, maybe arms getting popped out of their sockets.

Sequels are gonna be better than the prequels but not as good as originals. Anybody else thing the same?

Clone Wars movie is pretty bad. Season 1 is the same with a few exceptions (Malevolence, Rookies, Ryloth). Season 2, it starts to get pretty good. Season 3-6 is fantastic.

Has surprisingly dark bits for a chilluns show.

I was totally prepared to hate it as well. I don't think Star Wars Rebels will be any good though.

This was a pretty impressive explosion. Entire scene was pretty well done.

The episode and its arc were not the best though. Kind of dull.

I thought I had a webm of the whole scene. It's like 30 seconds long.

Apparently not.

The problem was Lucas being heavily involved with the "movie" and the first season. The movie was actually just the first three episodes of the show, which George demanded be edited together into a theatrical film. Even though the episodes weren't even finished.

He started losing interest in the show during the production Season 2, which is why it suddenly became a great show from Season 3 onward.

So! Found that on Wookiepedia, thought it was an interesting concept. Has it been used in… well, anything outside a few paragraphs in a sourcebook for Star Wars Saga edition?

Reminder that there's a /starwars/ board (in case anyone new comes by here and isn't aware).
