I won't lie, Kale can be a bit finnicky time and time again, but every person is with their flaws, after all, and artists are of course no different. At the end of the day I still owe him- he's given me INDISPENSABLY amazing advice many times over as an artist.

When this happens you contact the artist and tell them in case they forget. Artists are only human you know. Also bear in mind that Kale accidentally took in too many commissions at once which is why he has them closed until he can get around to actually finishing them. He has apologized for this and says it will not happen again.

If Kale took too many commissions and they're working on a backlog, the commissioners should've received an explanation and a possible deadline as to when their commission would be worked on.

(Before anyone jumps on my neck about deadlines - it's best if this is established between artist and commissioner to eradicate stuff like this happening. If art's your only income, not setting a deadline and/or failing to report to your commissioner is bad practise.)

Pretty sure he has posted a public apology concerning delayed commissions at some point on his blog. Still though, I admit sending personal emails to each one would be a better idea and I don't know if he has actually done this.

Kale has said he does not intend to do this again and will have a small queue for commissions in the future. So there will be improvement in the future.

Another commissioner here. I can confirm everything that's been said about wait times and more. In my case, I paid him for a commission over 8 months ago. In that time, I've poked him with emails once every couple of months, only to hear about how hard it is being an artist, how stressed out it makes him feel that I dare to inquire about the status of the art I commissioned with my money.

Also, to the people saying Kalechip is nice and friendly: Wait until you pay him, then watch him vanish off the face of the fucking earth and never speak to you voluntarily again.

Ultimately it comes down to art being his hobby. He draws what he wants. Newsflash, artists don't owe you shit. It's perfectly fine to be obsessed with something. And funny how his obsessions with shota-ish things are perfectly fine but as soon as he starts branching out it's suddenly bad.

His post about loosing patreon supporters was about people signing up to get access to art and then CANCELLING before paying for that month also. Which is a scum bag thing to do.

And there is a very clear reason as to his suddenly leaving the shota community, and as he and I spoke about it on length yet he doesn't seem to want to post it online I'll just bring it up here once and be done with it.

You can't be known for drawing shota without everyone, their dog, their kids, wanting to skin you alive for it. Kale has had his blog deleted several times, his address doxxed, people constantly threatening to kill him, all for drawing one specific type of r34 art. Not only that, but due to Canada's laws (unlike the US) it's technically illegal to sell it now. Kale has already fled off the internet due to social justice witch hunts and rather than do it again he has decided to not draw shota recreationally anymore. He doesn't post it publicly and I don't blame him. Recently an artist called hpreducedto1 had his NSFW blog ripped down due to one or two bratty tumblr kids and he lost everything. Years worth of artwork. They also continuously harass him. Kale doesn't want that happening.

There simply is no place for shota on tumblr anymore, and Kale is trying to adapt to this. Is he going the best route to accomplish this? I don't know. He seems to think so.

As for drawing straight art, Kale has always been attracted to girls too, he's just never actively found any female characters that he found attractive yet. He also tagged it accordingly so if you know how to use tumblr all you have to do is blacklist het stuff.

I personally am kinda disappointed he's drawing het stuff now too, but I realize that ultimately with an artist it comes down to what they like and no amount of a "dedicated fanbase" (if you can even call people who rant like infants behind his back instead of openly bringing up said problems that) will change anything. And disliking someone simply because they no longer "draw what you like" is both immature, and counterproductive. There are other artists out there after all that you can direct your attention (and commission funds) to.

And of course one final nail in the coffin is how people feel the need to use lowball insults about his gender on a regular basis. Kalechip has lied about commission dates before. More than once. And now, thanks to >>5710 I know to a certainty that Kalechip is prioritizing the art of people who ordered after I did because they finally put their foot down and demanded their art or a refund. And sorry, I shouldn't have to e-mail an artist to remind them that I sent them money to begin with, especially with someone who wants the entire fee up front.

Well, it's the most egregious problem with Kale. Honestly, if he doesn't want to draw shota, that's his business, but it completely kills my interest in his art, and the interest of a great many others. Kalechip in my experience is also a narcissist, and a drama queen, and will talk at great length about how everything makes him feel while totally ignoring the feelings of others, including those he has obligations to.

Well, as long as people are just bitching on 8chan, there's nothing backwards about it at all. People are not obligated to like Kalechip as a person, or to like everything he draws. If people want him to draw shota art, and he doesn't, they don't owe it to him not to be put off. Disagreeing with an artist's choice of subject matter is not harassment or entitlement.
