I don't know if he was actually the first or if it was actually a crush, but I remember getting Tales of Symphonia when I was 10 and really getting attached to him. I thought it was so cool how he was like the smartest in the group and was a badass magic user. I don't know if it was self insertion or a crush, my memory is hazy ( I was only 10 after all), but I know that he was the character I played and liked the most. I even drew(traced) a picture of him from one of my Nintendo powers and kept it on my wall with some other pictures I drew/traced.
