With no other form of crime is self-defence as the only viable protection considered a solution by anybody. Yes, women should learn self-defense, feminists have in fact pushed for this, but organized deterrence (which the prison abolition movement would have to radically redefine) and social prevention (we also teach people not to steal, beat each other up etc.) are the first lines of defence.
Unless you're some variety of anarchist who would advocate this as the default solution for any form of widespread aggression, I advise you to think your "controversial" statements through a bit more.
