You say that as if it's a good thing. By the end of KLK you had so many characters that had outlived their usefulness it wasn't even funny. Tsumugi, the teacher, the devas, even Satsuki.

Ryuuko was terribly overpowered too, and she didn't even have an excuse like Simon's "It's spiral power, I don't have to explain shit" to pull finishing moves out of her ass.

Face it, KLK was just a bad Lagann rip-off, replacing the Gunmen with stupid sentient fanservice clothes.
