So, stalkers. Some of you have probably played this before. There is an MMO adaptation of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. out there. It's been around for a few years in multiple incarnations. The game is easy to summarize: It's absolute shit, but still manages to be fun.

It's obviously based in "totally-not-the-Zone". It has all the classic features - artifacts, anomalies, mutants, fightan, big-ass maps.

For the rookies: It's an interesting mix between S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and classic MMO mechanics. You will have leveling and quests. When you die, you can try to get back up, or you can respawn at the closest campfire. Outside of settlements and the starting zones, PVP is fully open and allowed. There are clan mechanics, and you can capture bases. There's lots of exploration, all of it free-roam. The world is quite dangerous. Progression is done mostly through money. Artifacts are how you get money easily. Combat and movement can be stiff and wonky, and bullets are hitscan. ==There are 4 different ways to squat.==

For the veterans: Confused? If you played it before, it was likely the old version. The game was renamed to "sZone Online" after threats of lawsuits. Two years ago, however, one of the devs made off with the production database and the entire source code, sick of the buggy experience and stagnation of the codebase. He nset up his own servers, started adding features, and changed the name of his version back to "Stalker Online". A hunger bar appeared, new weapons and maps happened, and the game began to more closely resemble an actual S.T.A.L.K.E.R. experience. sZone is still around, but development is slow and it's still as terrible as ever. Stalker Online has stepped the game up. Graphics are a lot better (but slavs still don't understand what AA is), and there are a bunch of general improvements. There's a thirst bar now, which wasn't around when I last played. It's still not optimized all that well.

If you're interested in playing, and maybe getting something going, you can snag it at http://en.stalker.so/

I don't know how to get around the requirement of a phone number yet when you sign up. Maybe use Google Voice.

So, anyone care to join me in the Zone?

For the rookies:

If things haven't changed since I was last playing, the area you spawn in has some quests, mostly fetching and killing rats with your rusty Makarov. Do them and move on to Lubech City.

Lubech City is where you get to make your first choice. You can stay there and quest (advised), getting some XP and learning the game mechanics in general. You can get an AK, a Tokarev, and your first detector from questing. Or you can make your way to the tunnels and head straight to Lubech Forest, the first real map. It's massive, and it's where you'll spend most of your time. Do the quests for the Gourmet for mad dosh, learn to hunt artifacts for even more mad dosh. Unlike Lubech City, this is where PVP becomes big. Don't go around shooting randoms, you'll quickly be labeled as a bandit. When you die, you have a random chance to drop any gear that you don't have equipped - and the more expensive it is, the higher the chance that you'll lose it.

If you need help, add Matvey_Traveller to your friends list and PM me. I'll help you if I can.

 No.280

Oh, and although the p2w was ripped out of the game last I played, looks like you can buy premium accounts now, and I wouldn't be surprised if gold rubles were back (which means you can pay IRL dosh for guns/armor).

 No.281

Is it fun though?

 No.282

>>281
Yes, if you don't mind the bugs, poor optimization, unbalanced PVP, and a bunch of minor things.

I would have recommended it the last time I played it. I saw on someone's clan forums though that there were some really retarded changes made, so I dunno. I'm playing right now, if I can get into 310 without getting shot, I'll poke around.

 No.284

I don't know. It definitely sounds interesting but it looks like absolute shit.

Any good gameplay videos you can show us?

 No.286

>>284
There are some on youtube.

I'm really put off by the return of p2w though, it's pretty bad. Didn't help when someone randomly one-shotted me with an assault rifle when I was close to 310, either. I'm taking a break for now, but I'm not positive it's still worth playing.

You can buy gr and be a total p2w fag but you can also just make in-game money and buy the gr from another player.
Also you can have the best protection against mutant or bullets without using the cash shop

 No.295

>>279
Weapons and armor do not drop anymore.
AP ammo, medical supplies, and artifacts that are not put into an artifact container can drop.
>>280
The premium account only gives double xp.
It does help out quite a bit if you have it, but I have done most of the larger xp quests and am able to grab most of the good skills/perks.
>>281
If you have friends to play with it is fun otherwise it is pretty boring alone.

If anyone played back in the old day and remembers prometheus he made this wiki for a lot of the quests.

If you play this game, play on the SPB server, it has the most english players, we're taking over boys, we have that old nigga prometheus, some of them weirdo foreigners in last_light, we got that polish nigga oloo, its happening boys, get to stalkin'

Matvey_Traveller you dumb nigga you better have chosen the SPG server or you are playing with over 50000 full blooded anti american ruskies

 No.325

>>314
My characters predate the SPG cluster, sadly. And just when I thought I'd be back to stalkan, I end up with a flood of other vidya recommended to me by my friends.

But even back in the day, I had russkies asking me if I was one of them, because of the name. If I don't talk, people won't know that I'm secretly American. I relied on google translate and OCR to speak broken Russian back then, but apparently they just patched out ctrl+v in chat to cut down on spam, so I can't even do that anymore.

 No.326

>>325
that is why you sell everything you have worth a ruble, convert that money into GR bought from players, and then START ALL OVER AGAIN! on the SPG cluster with all of us rootin tootin english spookans. it's you can also join one of the like 4 english clans and "giv rubl pls i new )))" and they'll kit you out in some shit gear and let you lose on the world.

Inflation looks horrific, I saw VSSs going for millions on the AH, and I bought mine for 750K over a year ago. What's the conversion rate for slavshskels to p2wshekels right now?

What clans are around? LL are faggots, I refuse to play with them. Those niggers destroyed Cheeki_Breeki because the leader couldn't fit enough cocks in his mouth.

>he holds grudges against people online from 5 years ago
>he holds grudges against an entire clan when it was really a war between clan leaders
>he holds grudges against a clan that has like 2 of the original members from szone days

 No.330

>>329
3 years ago. Don't care if it was a war between leaders - the entire SO general on /vg/ is not acceptable collateral. You were all p2w faggots, to boot. Do you even have your head on straight? Because this was before it was sZone.

 No.331

>>330
I was in cheeki breeki fyi.
What do you even mean by acceptable collateral?
Also you do realize that a lot of the players traded and sold gr right?
I was able to make enough money to buy anything on the shop because of it

 No.332

>>330

the game you're playing is Stalker Online , the old stalker online is szone. Last Light is not the last light from FIVE YEARS AGO, its a bunch of europeans that speak broken english, make dick jokes, and don't give a shit about anything that ever happened in szone, why? because its us against them… the united world of english speakers vs the verim russian snakes. if you want to be real gay you can hang out with comrade and kresic, they play here but as loners, your other option is SoA which is a clan with 99% polish people.

 No.337

>>332
>because its us against them
It was the same in the original Stalker Online, tard. You know, before it was renamed to sZone? Didn't stop them from driving all of /vg/ out of the game. Faggots to the last.

 No.338

>>337
>Didn't stop them from driving all of /vg/ out of the game
Half of /vg/ stayed and formed Band of Brothers.
Just because YOU leave the game doesn't mean that everyone left the game.
You aren't /vg/
Besides, it's like what I said earlier.
Like two of the original last light made this version of last light.

 No.339

>>337

also cheeki breeki killed itself by having inactive leaders, leaving the whole clan unable to wardeck/declare peace or do anything really besides invite people… we actually were unable to take a base because one of the guys with absolute power wouldn't get on to wardeck the clan who owned the base we wanted (which happened two weekends in a row)

Alright you got me convinced. Should we make a /stalker/ clan?

 No.348

I played 2-3 years ago, il be playing again because bored as fuck and just to stalk again with my friends and help rookiees.

Artifact hunting was fun, I woke up in hours there was none in the artifact areas and made mad dosh.

 No.349

I was an officer. You're just spouting bullshit.

>>338
Also incorrect. So many people left that a general that would hit post limit in a day or two died in less than a week.

So, because I skipped training and been running around back and forth. Where I can get artifact container, and I have forgotten how to hunt artifacts. I could try make some dosh if I had some means to get artifacts.

 No.396

>>385
I think certain armor items have them built in.

 No.397

>>385
You can still grab artifacts without a container and sell them for the same value.
Artifact containers stop artifacts from dropping but there is a chance when taking an artifact out that it will delete the charge of the artifact.
This is not a problem if you are crafting since you can use depleted artifacts but if you are trying to sell to a vendor you will want as big of a charge as possible.
Artifact containers also only have 15 charges so once you use all 15 you need to use a stabilized solution which is a crafting recipe from some quest or vendor that I have yet to find.
If you have like 2k rubles you can go to the scientist bunker at m12(?) and talk to the scientist vendor there for a magnetic grip device(MGD) and some batteries, 5 to turn it on and 20(?) to pull an artifact out.
step1: right click and use the mgd in your inventory
step2: look for an artifact
step3: move towards the artifact until a dot shows up on your mgd and is within the smaller square in the middle
step4: click the dot until you see numbers and/or arrows appear in the bottom boxes
step5: press those numbers and arrows
Congrats you now have an artifact.
Some anomalies deal damage but don't outright kill you so you can just run through them to grab the artifact rather than spend batteries.
There is a better MGD on Vesuvius but you will need better gear than a PM or Toz.

>>396
This is false, unless you are playing sZone in which I have no idea if this is true.
