So as most of you /stalker/s hopefully completed SoC already, I'm curious if Strelok destroying the C-Consciousness actually helped in any way.

One could argue that it didn't and only made the Zone grow more unstable, seeing as how in CoP blowouts are commonplace.

But in SoC the C-Con could just use emissions whenever it suited them. Plus I would think blowouts would be canon in SoC had GSC not cut them from the game. And you could also say that the C-Con were just busy fumbling around to actually do anything other than constantly brainwash tons of Stalkers trying to reach the center of the Zone.

Discuss?

The zone doesn't want to be tampered with. It is a product of humanities fuck ups and should be left alone before we make it worse.

Too bad Strelok made it worse.

Blowouts occur more often, but notice how much safer the zone is - anomalies remain in small secluded areas, factions are less willing to shoot everyone on sight.

 No.441

The C-con was trying to make sure the Zone didn't get worse, and only tried to protect itself with Emissions. Killing it was the worst idea in the entire series.

Now entire earth can be Zone

Now everyone can be STALKER

It is dream come true, Sergei

Yes stalker but if everyone have artifact then how will we be rolling in the rubles?

 No.601

Why be rolling in rubles when you can instead be rolling in bubbles and hearts of the oasis assuming it regenerates?

Anyway, killing them was wrong. He should have disabled the tech upholding the C-Con and hauled their asses to a freedom base. That would have been the best chance to understand The Zone, to find a way of coexistance and a better future for mankind.

Probably this, yeah.
There doesn't seem to be a way to make the zone 'disappear' or fight it, so we just have to learn how to live in harmony or at least coexistance with it.

 No.607

Well, even if there was a way to make it disappear…
Why? There's only one reason to, if coexistance wouldn't be sustainable. Yet the population of The Zone implies that it probably is, as long as you know how.
Correct me if I'm canonically wrong, but everything that got worse was an effect of people fighting The Zone, right?
The only thing it does without interference is growing with every blowout. The remaining question would be, after the blowout that makes it encompass the whole earth, what would happen on the next blowout? I'd guess opening space anomalies to other worlds, so it can grow further. That'd make a hella weird spinoff for Stargate.

If this is to be true, why then is the zone so calm and peaceful in the COP timeline?

 No.644

>>643

i have wondered this as well. compared to SHOC there was concern about seeing the expansion of the zone and mutants appearing beyond the borders.

however, there was a book written (haven't read it personally) about a Zone that sprouted in the middle east somewhere. so perhaps we only got a point of view from a setting in ukraine, but elsewhere shit is going down?

Roadside picnic's zone takes place in Canada and there's more around the world.
