So, a reason I love the STALKER lore that I think stuff like Survivarium misses out on is that the zone is a contained incident. It's not dire everywhere, just the zone, making it a new frontier rather than a huge disruption.
Does anyone feel the same way as me? I don't know why it makes such a big difference to me, either. Maybe it's somehow more optimistic in tone? like the zone being researched to improve the rest of the world. It's part of why artifacts are so valuable, being able to teach us how to improve batteries, etc.

The zone is much more than a disaster caused by man. It is a living thing.
Stalkers that venture into the zone and end up surviving eventually become accustomed to the zone and its rules. Its adaptation on almost a spiritual level.
Survarium doesn't (or at least hasn't yet) touched on this. Just copy and paste post apocalypse.

In Roadside picnic there are several exclusion zones that are parallel to each other. It is described as someone shooting the earth with a pistol. The bullet passes straight through leaving two holes.

I always thought that it the zones were arranged in lines and the analogy to shooting the earth with a pistol was that it hit the same place but at different parts in earth's rotation.

push me back if I am going full retard but you are adapting not almost but entirely on a spiritual level.
>You become part of it
a bloodvessel in a body is like a stalker in the zone

I think you've hit the nail right on the head, stalker.
Both in "Roadside picnic" and Tarkovsky's "Stalker" the stalker character becomes part of the zone. This transition makes them useless to society outside of the exclusion zone.

STALKER also manages to provide a working game executable on steam, something Survarium can't seem to handle yet still offers $154 in DLC for. :^)

STALKER also manages to have a single player focused experience where the lore can really come through (especially SOC, where they actually bothered with readable documents, stories from the zone, encyclopedia entries on mutants and locations, etc.) while Survarium is an MMO that can't even be bothered to have a working launcher on steam.
