Did you try turning it off and on again? I would seriously recommend reinstalling it first. And is it autosaving or quicksaving?

Tried that. Still did it with a completely untampered fresh install.

I can only guess it's autosaving. No quicksave is made, but there is an autosave in the load menu labelled "all". I went into the savedgames folder and deleted it, but sure enough when I went back into the game and checked there it was again.

At this point all I can think of is that it was a bad torrent.

Try to persevere, and go through the settings to find (if there is such a thing) how to disable autosave.

You could also go to "*your pc*/documents/*S.T.A.L.K.E.R file*/" and find a config file or something similar.

Does it eat up your memory, both RAM and your harddrive?

I would highly, HIGHLY suggest you get STALKER SoC v1.0005 + ZRP. I was running that and so was my brother, the game ran fine. If that doesn't work I can just send you my install.
