Sorry if this posts multiple times.

I wasn't that involved in the EU as it was coming out. I loved Star Wars and every now and then I would consume something EU (Shadows of the Empire, 2003 Clone Wars, etc) but I never knew the lore of it. Then Episode 7 was announced. I got excited and let the 'muh generations Star Wars trilogy' shit hook me in. I decided to get into the new canon because I just couldn't piece together the EU and Episode 7. I consumed everything except for the books. I read Tarkin which was actually pretty good then I tried reading the other books and I just couldn't get into it. I eventually read summaries of them and the plots of the books were boring as shit. The nuEU lore is so fucking boring. It's all shit like "oh this book is about the Empire taking over Ryloth but we're gonna act like this is some huge thing in lore". Why have that boring shit when I can have like 3 comic series about ancient Jedi, 3 books about Darth Bane, countless comics/games/novels about the formation of the New Republic, the Clone Wars mapped out month by month, etc?

Then Episode 7 was the icing on the cake. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad movie, but it wasn't a Star Wars movie either. The other 6 movies had this magic to them. I just can't explain it but George gave them some sort of atmosphere where you knew everything had a purpose. Every alien species already had a backstory, every bounty hunter had a story, every planet had a story, every battle mentioned had a story in George's mind. He made the movies as if the EU material explaining the things in the movies already existed and that made the movies feel real. Episode 7 didn't have that at all. 1-6 felt like they were made by Aleister Crowley and Episode 7 felt like it was made by fucking Stephen Hawking.

All in all, the EU is now my headcanon. I've been reading a lot more now and it feels good that I don't want to try and shoehorn the new movies into the EU stuff, that I can simply let the EU version of 36ABY be my headcanon. The only thing that fucks with me is that no new EU stuff will ever be made and the fact that hardly anyone on the entire internet wants to talk about the EU anymore. The EU is great, but it feels dead.

You don't have to pretend here. We all know it was shit. This isn't reddit, you don't need to censor your thoughts out of fear of being downvoted.

Nothing in the movie made sense, why would Finn a brainwashed space Nazi view Han Solo as a war hero? Why would Rey an isolated scavenger and scrapper be so willing and able to make friends with strangers? Why was Kylo Ren a supposed trained Knight of some sort, such a fucking pussy? How did Rey know to force trick people's minds? The questions are endless. The more you think about the movie the less sense it makes.

That isn't even to start with how painfully dull and uninspired the visuals were. There was no magic, there was no atmosphere, it was just a soulless cash grab, and that's all Star Wars is to Disney. A brand to push progressive ideals and make money with.

Say what you will about the Prequels and the EU, but at least they were telling stories, at least they were fresh and had ideas of their own. Lucas had the guts and the gumption to do things that some people wouldn't like, because he was an artist who had a vision.

Disney has none of that, and they never will.

Star Wars is a diversity/progressive platform now, gotta push as much of the agenda as they can fit into three movies, plus spin-offs.

And remember, Vader was cloned at least once. Now that gives some food for thought. Why Frank never cloned Vader? He had spare clones for himself, knew that Vader cloned Starkiller, etc.

Why Sheev never cloned Vader in first place? Every source, movies and EU, tell us that Palpatine was itching to dump Vader at the first opportunity. So "keeping Vader weak" wasn`t a valid reason, since he was always looking for someone stronger, therefore with potential to rebel and even deposel him.

Weird that Vader himself relied on clones (Starkiller, to the point creating like Duncan Idaho gholas, one after another), but never used it as spare parts.

No amount of fan editing could improve the story, which at a base level is unoriginal and boring. Fan edits usually do well with cutting out extraneous, pointless scenes that detract from a movie's plot, kind of like that guy who cut down the Hobbit films into a four and a half hour block by removing everything Jackson had cooked up, including the Legolas scenes and the elf/dwarf romance.

But when the plot itself is bad, removing excess scenes just leaves you with a slightly shorter shitshow.

With TFA, I don't think there were many extraneous scenes to cut. The film was so fast-paced that every scene ran into the next. Maybe you could cut a minute or so off that scene with Rey making dinner and eating it quite grossly with her fingers, but I can't think of much else.

I sort of like the Caedus arc, never liked Joruus C'Baoth, never liked Palps coming back, Cade Skywalker was dog-shit tier just like Force Unleashed. You can spot a fan with shitty taste if they can justify the garbage that is TFU.

Worst offenders are obviously the Disney shit, Force Unleashed, and The Old Republic (also a terrible offender that fucked over it's own KOTOR canon).

I've stopped caring about Star Wars for the most part. It depresses me to even see some of the pre-Disney films any more. I look back and realize we've spent over a decade on the Clone Wars, writing stories and fleshing out characters that will never be looked at in a decent light. I realized when I saw shit like the Dark Horse comics writing garbage to be as edgy as possible that we've allowed too many lightsabers on the screen and page.
