I'm now planning my own Star Wars EU.

I think it would be cool if the fans did whatever the fuck they wanted with Star Wars. I'm sure 90% of it is going to be complete shit, but with the experimentation we'll find some cool new shit that works with Star Wars.

For my own personal EU there are a few things I want to achieve.

-I want to capture the vastness of the galaxy: This means I won't be playing it safe by relying heavily on the Skywalker family the skywalkers will still be present and members of their family will play certain roles and having future events mostly happening on the established Star Wars worlds. The galaxy is a vast place with thousands of planets, there would be trillions of trillions of lifeforms in the Star Wars universe.

-I want to keep the Force as a mystical force: This is a personal preference of mine, but I like magic to work as magic. Many series have complex magic systems with established rules and limitations. To me magic works best when its workings are unknown. I will base the Force itself off Schopenhauer's 'Will to live' (Which is the best philosophical theory corresponding to the nature of Force)

-Expand galactic politics beyond Rebels vs The Empire/Sith vs Jedi/Good vs Evil: This one is probably the most tricky for me because the original Star Wars relied so heavily on black and white morality. It was at its essence a simple fantasy tale of good vs evil. But for an expanded universe to truly work there needs to be a multiplicity of views, otherwise new events, characters and stories will turn stale. I will struggle here the most.

The accepted canon for my personal Star Wars universe will be episode 4,5 and 6. I begin my universe's establishment after the destruction of the second death star, which sets in motion the collapse of the empire.

We are. Considering how worse the new EU is and how generic the new film was, we pretty much have no choice. I still hate this shit because normies and kids 20 years from now won't give two shits while shit like Thrawn, Kotor, CS, etc all fade into obscurity and replaced by garbage like Aftermath. Meanwhile we will never get animated direct to dvd adaptations of those memorable EU stories.

>tfw Disney prompted me to finally start writing my own autistic fanfiction

I mean, it's not great or anything, and I'm being way more lenient with lore consistency than I probably should be but it's better than another Aftermath novel. Even my own mediocre writing is better than stunning lines like…

>The TIE wibbles and wobbles through the air, careening drunkenly across the Myrrann rooftops - it zigzags herkily-jerkily out of sight.

>Time to put on more space diapers

Can we just rewrite the prequels while we're at it?

If you want man, you can even rewrite the originals if you want (I personally don't think anyone should have any need to do so whatsoever, but the possibility does exist). Just do whatever you think works and go from there.

We don't need disney, lucas or anyone as long as we don't monetize anything we do. And my passion for star wars is alone sufficient, I don't need to make money off this. Hell, apart from the odd thread or forum post, I don't think I will ever have any trace of it outside my own computer.

I don't see why anyone is hurt too incredibly bad by the axing of the expanded universe. I mean, sure, it sucks that a lot of that stuff isn't canon anymore, but that doesn't mean the stories don't exist and that the universe itself doesn't still have room for people to do whatever we want with it.

Regardless of the quality of the official franchise, Star Wars has a magical quality to it that allows for endless expansion, endless stories, a universe and setting that people are free to play in to their heart's content.

Fans have always been the driving force behind the Star Wars universe. Don't see any reason why that has to change now.

We don't care if Disney calls it canon or not. We've stated this many times. What pisses EU fans off is that they're replacing the better stories with awful and unbearable crap like the Marvel comics and the new shitty novels. Its like you haven't even read the new stuff. Meanwhile because the old EU is no longer canon it means they'll never get any recognition or attention again and no updated versions/adaptations. Also Phasma is garbage you fucking pleb.

This is what Star Wars is now:

>>>/co/488677

A fucking parody of itself.

The difference is that with shit like Star Trek and other major media is that they don't have a formal canon. They just make books, comics, etc and expect the fans to piece what they want and consider which EU stuff to use in the more important medias like TV and films. But with Star Wars they had everything rounded up and said "nope. we don't want this stuff anymore. you're old relics and don't matter and we only care about the new". If they never had people making guidebooks which organized the canon and edited things to fit with the bigger canon, then maybe things would've turned out better, but all this does is shit on countless past works and treat them like forgettable garbage while choosing to replace it all with even bigger garbage.

This also.

>I don't see why anyone is hurt too incredibly bad by the axing of the expanded universe.

Prolly cus we get Wending's crap shoved down our throat and get called racists and homophobes when we dont like Wending's shit.

Prolly cus the new EU is an obvious, soulless, moneygrubbing scheme by Disney, and those that buy in on it are casual jackasses that are "fans", who've only watched the OT and half-remember the PT, shit on the PT because its the cool thing to do, and are generally superficially interested in the lore of SW, WHY DO YOU THINK EP 7 WAS A FUCKING REMAKE OF EP 4?? Making it that way is the easiest way of guaranteeing following for it, its so hilariously black and white, the villains are so puppy-skinningly evil, the good guys are mary sues, its a fucking fanfiction where the moviegoer is supposed to feel as if though he was the author.

The fans in this new shit-smeared appendage are imbeciles, the only driving force they will have in Star Wars is whether or not Finn is shagging it up with Poe and whether or not the Empire was inclusive in sexual preference. THIS DOES NOT FURTHER THE FUCKING NARRATIVE. I dont care whether or not a character likes his own sex, but having them introduced by "Hi im a totally OC, BTW IM A FAG LOL" is shit beyond reasoning, its bad within itself.

The new Disney continuum is pandering, soulless, moneygrubbing, to shitstained retards that buy SW-themed lipstick because Sephora got a promo deal with JJ and then sing themselves lifelong fans. You are an idiot for buying into this new EU,. its fake beyond anything else

I wish but last time I read good SW fanfiction was years ago on fanfiction.net. I can barely remember anything about them other than a few moments.

don't shoot the messenger, that was paramount's stance on the situation. the tv shows and movies are all within a contained universe since it's under their banner, but anything outside of that is on its own.

also, gene was pretty much out of star trek altogether after the first movie.

I'm just going to write my own stuff and set it far enough after ROTJ that it doesn't necessarily contradict any timeline, then do what I want from there.

Okay, for my star wars the prequels are scrapped and the clone wars are reworked.

The conflict of the clone wars arose out of tension between the galactic republic and the newly acquired Parsoa Hutta territories of the galactic republic. Greater Parsoa Hutta was a Huttian slave state that was voluntarily annexed into the republic. The Huttians thought the economic benefits from the dropped tariffs would compensate for the loss of autonomy and slavery. Things ran smoothly for a hundred and thirty years. Until the rest of the galactic republic, coming to see Parsoa as a true galactic territory, started to tackle the various issues effecting the province, namely socioeconomic inequality. Inheritance laws were introduced to stop a single Hutt inheriting land larger than 1/4 the median size of a settled planet and heavy taxation and tariffs were applied. There was a furious backlash, with the Hutt's trying to secede from the republic. Usually systems are free to leave the Republic at any time, but at the senate it was decided that for ethical reasons Parsoa couldn't be allowed to leave the Republic's jurisdiction, as it was highly probable that slavery would be reinstated.

Loffen the Hutt, a young bourgeois hutt who was set to inherit land totaling twelve median planets, plus numerous asteroid fields and spaceports. Conspired with other Hutts and various criminal syndicates to create in secret, in deep space outside any system, an automated droid army and fleet. His plan was was to use the droid army for one quick, suicidal strike on Coruscant, laying waste to the galactic capitol. He thought a deep strike on Coruscant would cripple the republic; causing sufficient social instability to allow the Parsoa territories to declare independence, or if not that, it would give the Hutts the upper hand at the negotiating table and allow them to overturn the inheritance laws and excessive taxation. Loffen believed his droid army would be completely untraceable, putting great effort into creating them in such a way.

 No.10574

>>10570

The droid army falls upon Coruscant and makes quick work of the planetary defenses. The entire surface of the planet is bombed, laying waste to everything. Some civilians manage to escape past the assaulting droid fleet and flee into space, the majority retreated deep inside the planet, taking asylum in and around the extensive sewer, electrical, and maintenance tunnels and service areas. The senate and the rest of the galactic bureaucracy retreat to the emergency bunker, located in the planets hollowed core. The jedi council, even though in charge of maintaining peace and order, make the decision to flee the system. Believing that the collected jedi knowledge they possessed with them, and the jedi order itself, were more important than coruscant and the senate. Anakin, morally outraged, defies the order to evacuate and forsakes his master Obi Wan.

The droid army deploys ground forces upon Coruscant's charred surface, which begin to descend through the winding networks of the planet's interior, aiming to annihilate the remaining senators and bureaucrats. The local police and planetside security forces, together with a newly formed militia, fight and hold off the droid army. Anakin comes to aid in the war, and with his jedi powers comes to dominate the battlefield. He quickly is seen as the hero of Coruscant. The occupation of the surface goes on for days, the droid fleet above holding off the republican peacekeeping fleet, buying time for the ground troops to destroy the republic's political leadership. The planetside republican forces stretch thinner and retreat deeper in with every passing hour. By the time the droid fleet is cracked and reinforcements deploy planetside, the planetside forces are defending the single bunker door. For the last few hours of the battle of Coruscant Anakin lead, he found himself come into leadership through the course of the battle, as the militia lost their leaders, they turned to their hero Anakin.

>I mean, sure, it sucks that a lot of that stuff isn't canon anymore

This is not why exactly it sucks

It sucks because disney pretty much did this

>We need to wipe the slate clean

>Also, let's make sure the new EU is even more garbage than the first one.

They did not learned from their errors, let alone if they weren't already clueless about how to treat star wars properly.

Luke did fight Darth Vader for the first time before ESB in the old E.U, which to me is complete bullshit, I would have expected Disney would avoid taking such decisions, but no. We get Marvel tier shovelore into our mouths of Luke already getting Jedi training and fighting Vader. Which would make sense if episode 5 never existed.

>Fans have always been the driving force behind the Star Wars universe.

Not anymore trooper

>Don't see any reason why that has to change now.

So that disney can produce the most casually accessible garbage ever and gather to the capeshit enthusiasts to rake more money.

TFA did tried to appeal to older fans, but for my part, I just see a normal capeshit movie with a star wars skin on it, nothing more. It was arguably better than the prequels, but at least the prequels feel like star wars and not like an emulation of star wars unlike TFA

>Luke did fight Darth Vader for the first time before ESB in the old E.U

are you referring to splinter of the mind's eye or the first marvel run? because that shit was non-canon. the disney eu is considered canon.
