What do you think of Mace, /starwars/?

People say Samuel L. Jackson was a bad choice for this character, and I guess I can see where the criticism comes from. But I think he managed to breathe some life into a character who otherwise would have been completely flat.

Apparently having Mace die confronting Palpatine rather than "like some punk" (i.e. all the other Jedi sans Yoda and Kenobi) was Jackson's idea, based BMF

I agree. He seemed like a his script was written as a filler character, but jackson made Mace feel relevant as an active leader in the council. Yoda would sit back and chill, but Mace took on the onus of conducting meetings

I didn't mind the character. I think a lot of the criticism of him comes from just a watching of Episode 1 where he doesn't do much, but it pays off in Episode 3. He was so hard on Anakin throughout the prequels that when it came to the confrontation with Palpatine he was probably the only Jedi that Anakin would have been okay with killing.

His character had no development, he was just bland Jedi.

If he wasn't played by Samuel L Jackson he'd be totally forgettable, but as it was the character has no personality. SLJ didn't do bad with the acting - you never cringe like you do with some lf the younger actors - but there's nothing for him to really do.

Yeah, he does some action scenes, but he never gets to show any emotion or personality, and that's a character design issue.

When he flew out of the window, I did not understood what happened, did Anakin force pushed him ? Did Palpatine has a secondary effect with his force lightning ? Palpatine doesn't seem to move much more to push Mace, it's like he's getting pulled in a strong gust of wind.

Plus considering all the cwazy vidya ninjuh shit the jedi do in the Prequel, I would have expected mace to survive that little fall.

Midichlorians and prophecy aside, Mace and Yoda were the 2 most powerful jedi in all aspects (I insist on Jedi, not sith) in the Prequels. Anakin was shit in clones and barely on par with Obi-Wan in Sith. Yoda sent Obi-Wan to fight Anakin, remember ? And all those fodder jedi (and Kit Fisto) just died instantly, Mace held up and would have Vapaad'd Sheev into oblivion, if it wasn't for Mister CRAAAWWWLIIING going across the street on Mace.

TL:DR: what the fuck happened in that scene, what or who made Mace go full Wily E. Coyote because i'm too dumb to get it.
