She should be dead though. She was thrown into a trash compactor, alone, on a planet that exploded maybe 40 minutes later. No one knew she was in the trash, she didn't know the base was in danger of total destruction. During the timeframe of the battle she would have had to escape the trash compactor (no small task if Han and company were smart and took her comms), make her way back to a bridge/command station or whatever, learn what the rebels were trying to do, then haul ass to an escape ship.
Kylo only escaped because Hux was told explicitly to get him, and even that's pushing what I'm willing to buy. A little sad how the novelization seems to fill in the blanks JJ left out. May have to give it a read and see if it makes me actually like the movie.
