Question:

Why didn't Kylo Ren or Snoke assume the title of Darth?

Basically every sith lord used it before them.

This quote from wookiepedia rustled my jimmies:

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Darth

"It was traditional that only the current Sith Master and his or her apprentice were allowed to use the Darth title."

Are there two sith lords behind the scenes manipulating First order or is JJ Abrams just a lazy plagiarizing fuck that we all know and love?

 No.11004

Technically speaking, they may not even be Sith. Kylo is supposedly a member of the "Knights of Ren", who we know nothing about except that they're presumably a dark side organization. They may not be members of the Sith Order. Also, Snoke may actually be his birth name, and we simply don't now his title yet.

So let me guess.

Jew Jew Abrams threw all the old lore in the trash and decided to build anew so that he an monetize it again and from the start.

The lore in SW:A new cash cow is so fucking vague and poorly presented that it basically needs to be filled with books, comics and games.

This is similar to what this imaginationless prick did to Startrek when he destroyed Vulcan with his hilarious abuse of plot holes and time travel.

Hollywood sickens me.

 No.11006

They arent Sith.

Kylo is a Dark Jedi, cant even do force lightning.

 No.11011

>>11006

no force technique is restricted to one side

luke used force choke in rotj and a version of lightning in the dark nest series, and plo koon's signature force move was this same variation of lightning.

also, kyle fucking katarn mastered both choke and lightning as well.

furthermore, >>11004 has it right. they aren't sith simply because they are not members of the sith order (the sith race died out millennia before revan due to cross-breeding lol, /pol/ was right again). the sith are a faction of dark force users, just as the jedi are a faction of light force users.

So, just cus yer Sith dont mean u use force lightning

it shows greater control of the dark side though

>no force technique is restricted to one side

Force Ghost. Requires full release of emotional connection, something dark siders can never do. Sith have similar, but different techs for surviving past death

 No.11041

>>11038

y'know, i'm not so sure that being a force ghost is restricted either. there's a reason only four jedi can do it: they were the only ones to learn.

if a sith were to learn the ability, i'm sure they could do it.

 No.11042

>>11041

When Qui Gon speaks to Yoda in the RotS novel he stated the mindset of the Sith prevents them for letting go to become a force ghost.

 No.11043

>>11042

yes, i know. just making sure you had proof to back it up.

 No.11066

>>11011

The problem is that nothing was explained. How did they get dark side powers, where do they originate, what's with the retarded claymore lightsaber(I can see that it's really irregular due to Kylo teen angst).

EU has dark jedi and is explained when they are introduced as you've stated

In the originals even in the first movie it was stated straightforwardly who the siths are, who the jedi are.

In this movie it's basically nothing. Something something space nazis with ss knights.

It's like watching a bloated pilot episode for a cable tv series.

Some Sith or other dark siders, such as Ajunta Pall, have been shown to become force ghosts, or at least use a similar technique. Granted, some of them abandoned the dark side in their last moments or after death.

 No.11068

>>11066

>what's with the retarded claymore lightsaber

databooks say kylo uses a cracked red crystal making it unstable (could be vader's) The crossguards are vents to prevent the lightsaber blowing up from the stress

 No.11096

Sith force ghosts are called force aberrations. Due to being fueled and powered by emotions, unlike force ghosts they can become unstable and kinda go crazy untill either they're dispelled or get a hold of themselves. Its kinda like the sith leaves a footprint in the galaxy or staple rather then become one with it.They are fucking spoopy as shit since only the most powerful of sith can become one and they can be set off into rage easier then a pregnant woman.

 No.11115

>>11096

so pretty much

sith ghosts= poltergeists

jedi ghosts= human familiars? Whatever the fuck its called, angels, spirit guides, etc.

>Snoke may actually be his birth name

>Reboot/special edition/whatever of Sequel trilogy in 30 years

>EU 3.0 is made

>Snoke gets a shitty first name kind of like "Plattus" in the same way Sheev did

 No.11147

>>11115

Yup that about sums it up. Benevolent versus melevolent spirits aligning with which side of the force you lean. As far as I'm aware it's an ability a Jedi or light sided force user can learn. When it comes to sith (to my knowledge) it isn't an ability, but more of an unwillingness to pass into the force and or feeling like they left something unfinished.

 No.11151

Everybody is just assuming the Knights of Ren are named after Kylo. I'm actually working from the assumption that Ren *is* a sort of title. I wouldn't be surprised if all the other Knights of Ren are named ____ Ren as well. It could be a title analogous to Darth in whatever organization Snoke is running.

I'm not convinced they have anything to do with the Sith at all. None of the other Knights have lightsabers after all.

 No.11153

>>11151

I recall reading somewhere that Kylo named himself after the Knights, actually.

 No.11168

>>11151

my assumption is that ren was some ancient dark side guy, as they are the "knights of ren".

 No.11177

Another possibility is that the Knights of Ren originate from a planet or system called Ren.

Kylo is still a dumb name, what does it even mean?

it's like a mixture of high and low

as in, your expectations in seeing the movie

they added the k to make it sound "star wars-ish"
