Agree or disagree with Pegg?

Attack of the Clones < Revenge of the Sith = The Phantom Menace < Return of the Jedi < Star Wars or A New Hope < Empire Strikes Back

Revenge = Phantom because:

1.) The speech buy Obi-wan at the end of Revenge always makes me cry, only because of what we learn about the characters in the (chronologically) next 3 movies.

2.) Jar Jar Binks, learning about the virgin birth and 'they blow you up!' aside, I at least loved the fact they went to a real desert to shoot the Tatooine sequence and I love the visuals and sound design of the pod race, despite it going on a bit too long. Sand people shooting at the pods helps as well.

3.) Attack of the Clones made me feel nothing, unlike Revenge of the Sith and The Phantom Menace. There was at least something there with those two.

>That had the most CGI! I would say that's the bottom of them!

Jesus fucking Christ the level of parroting going on here is sickening. Lets just forget for a moment that the PT used far less CGI than people seem to think, how would using 100% practical effects have made Revenge of the Sith a better movie in any capacity?

Everything actually wrong with Episode III comes down to pacing, both within the movie itself and in the PT as a whole. Episode I was effectively nothing but filler, with Episode II being the proper starting point to the overall story. This left Episode III with the burden of portraying events that should have been covered by two separate movies, which killed the pacing beyond any hope of saving.

Then why the fuck do these movies look so damn cartoony?

 No.4979

>>4978

Early digital cameras that filmed in a limited colorspace.

 No.4980

>>4978

because early 2000's cgi

upscaled in bluray it doesn't look as bad, watch phantom menace again and tell me cgi yoda doesn't look hella fresh in his shit

also, apart from pegg's unfortunately typical hipster taste, he did order the prequels right. attack of the clones had the best story and that was about it. the jango and arena stuff was cool shit, but the romance was hammy as fuck and i wanted to see more of obi-wan playing dick tracy around the universe. also disney or lucasfilm, if you happen to see this post, please make an obi-wan netflix show that covers his padawan years with qui-gon up to his time in the 20 years between the trilogies. you really can't fuck this up unless you make him have some secret love affair nonsense like han solo's pc wife.

speaking of, what is that period generally called? the rise of the empire?

The Dark Times

 No.4986

>>4985

ah yes there we go

Star Wars - Kenobi

S1 - Rise of a Legend

S2 - Master of the Force

S3 - The Dark Times

sounds good imo, of course they would need a new actor to play a younger obi-wan, but mcgregor could totally resume his 2/3 appearance and be made to look closer to alec guinness.

 No.4987

>>4986

Ian McGregor claims he was already contacted by Disney about whether he would be willing to reprise his role as Kenobi or not.

 No.4988

>>4986

actually fuck that, i would just have mcgregor for the dark times, season 2 would be in that 10 year gap between tpm and aotc

 No.4989

>>4987

yeah he did an interview back when disney bought lucasfilm, he said he would be all for reprising the role. most likely this will happen in some way.

>Clone>Sith=Phantom>Jedi>Star Wars>Empire

So far the best ranking that can be

>>4968

>Clone Wars not worst

>ROTS=ROTJ

That's daft

 No.5130

>>5064

Lot of people really like ROTS for some reason.

TPM was the only prequel I felt that George was really trying.

 No.5131

I really disagree with the ESB > SW thing.

Without SW setting up the world so well ESB wouldn't be a thing.

SW can stand alone, ESB relies on the previous movie.

 No.5132

>>5131

most trilogies are written this way, which is why the first is often the best.

 No.5133

>>5130

rots had one job and that was to bridge the trilogies, lucas didn't have to do much work with it. tpm and aotc were the real chores, and aside from some hokey acting and silly choices they did a fine job.

I get that JJ wants to hype up his new movies, but seeing him outright middle finger the prequels just make him look like a dick. He makes George Lucas seem like a lovable grandpa.

>Those Anakin movies sucked, am I right?

>Simon Pegg agrees with me :D

>Simon Pegg was in some good movies, am I right?

 No.8922

>>4964

For me it's PM<CW<RotS<RotJ<SW<ESB

Say what you will about Clone Wars, but at least some interesting shit happened. What happened in the Phantom Menace? These guys that no one cares about attack a planet that no one cares about. At least in EpII there's something resembling a plot, even if it is laced with the worst love story until twilight.

Did someone said Simon Pegg?

> On the original draft by Orci, Pegg commented that Paramount "had a script for Star Trek that wasn't really working for them. I think the studio was worried that it might have been a little bit too Star Trek-y." For his role as the primary screenwriter, Pegg had been asked to make this new film "more inclusive", stating that the solution was to "make a western or a thriller or a heist movie, then populate that with Star Trek characters so it's more inclusive to an audience that might be a little bit reticent."

Simon Pegg is ruining my childhood

 No.9031

Attack of the clones had the cool sound made by the seismic bomb (Slave I drops some on Obi Wan).

 No.9072

>>5130

ROTS lasts a bit too long but it works as the final part of the trilogy. Even if it's flawed it's hard not to be invested in Obi Wan or Anakin at this point and you get a real sense of "oh shit" as they come into full conflict.

 No.9073

>>8953

when the fuck did he say that? i need some serious sauce, some dickhead i know was trying to pretend that the new film looks good.

nvm, found it. fucking kek.
