Will it happen?

in all the interviews and behind the scenes stuff I'd seen it looked like Ewan wasn't a fan of Star Wars. Kinda surprised he'd want to do another movie.

I hope not

Obi Wan's exile is an exile, not an astonishing pack of adventures to be put on the silver screen.

As far my star wars knowledge is concerned, the most action he had seen during said exile would have been until he settled in that hut beyond the dune sea, otherwise, he would have been just hiding.

I have no interest of him just wandering around in the desert and then fight a tusken rider or two and then just wander.

Even less interest of actually having him fight the empire or something like that, this kills the continuity.

Its possible to change your mind, you know. Much like Liam Neeson despised working on Episode I, but warmed up to it after fans liked his character so much.

I've heard Ford hated Star Wars as well even more so, supposedly he never even watched Episode V until recently.

Ewan was a huge fan of Star Wars, he was just disappointed with how dull it was working on the prequels.

It's a matter of when not if. Disney is gonna whore out the IP until our grandkids have grandkids. You bet your ass there'll be an Obi Wan movie

oh i hope disney/lucasfilm saw my post in that other thread and are secretly using those ideas.

i wouldn't even want credit, just a writing job would be nice.

Then you have shit taste. I'd love to see something smaller and more personal. A lone hermit on Tatooine could get up to some interesting stuff. I'd like to see something that's mixing the christian desert fathers with Six-String Samurai and the adventurous tone of Kurosawa films.

I'd like to see what made him into an crazy old man. He didn't exactly seem unfamiliar with the scum in Mos Eisley so it's not unlikely he had done some stuff other than just meditating while he was in hiding.

this would be a perfect setup to do an adaptation of old wounds

That'd be good, but like many of the expanded universe tales the fact that it keeps regurgitating the exact same characters is keeping it down from being great. I think introducing new characters would be a good idea, maybe they'd die towards the end to keep continuity but Obi would benefit from a story that allowed him to slip into the wise old man role and take Luke as apprentice. Because being the one who taught the biggest space asshole the ways of the force who helped to kill all his friends must've left a mark. Not saying they should go full serious mode with that, just that it would make a good central theme.

I wouldn't be mad if this happened. Ewan is one of the few things I think is unambiguously good about the prequel trilogy.

I actually really liked his Obi-Wan and think he's a pretty good actor. It's just a shame that Lucas is such a hack writer
